Dynamic Modelling and Control of a Double Tethered Towing System for Flexible Non-Functional Satellites Removal

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sajadi Monfared, Ali (Author) ; Assadian, Nima (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Space debris have increasing importance for space missions. The towing removal scheme is one of the most promising ways for active removal of these debris from LEO orbits. In this approach, an active propelled satellite captures the debris via a space tether and a tethered net which by producing a force opposite to its velocity, it will cause deorbiting and burning the debris in the dense atmosphere. One of the issues with this technique is the danger of tether rupture which for solving that two tethers instead of one can be used. In this research study of active removal of flexible space debris via double tethered towing system has been done. Dynamic modeling has been done with Newton’s and...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Monfared, Ali Akbar (Author) ; Dolati, Abolqasem (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Despite the wide application of physical vapor deposition coating in various industries, one of the most important challenges is to achieve super hard coating with the help of this method. Super-hard coatings are coatings whose hardness is greater than 40 GPa. So far, various researches have been done to achieve this goal. One of the most important methods that has made it possible to achieve this goal is the creation of nanostructured coatings. Nanostructured coatings that cause a significant increase in hardness include superlattices and nanocomposites. In superlattice coatings, two layers with different shear modulus and lattice constant are deposited to each other with a very low...

    Abstract
Nitrate can be used as an oxidant in a cathode chamber of microbial fuel cell. Nitrate is known to be a pollutant of water particularly underground water and is considered a carcinogen of water. Nitrate was used in the cathode chamber of a microbial fuel cell as an oxidant that lead to simultaneous generation of electricity, removal of organic matter in anode, and removal of nitrate in the cathode. Using nitrate generated a voltage of 151 mV with an external resistance of 1000Ω. The maximum power density achieved was 1.375 mW/m2 with an external resistance of 800Ω. Seven days after the cell became operational and without the presence of a catalyst, the amount of COD had decreased by 25...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Modabber, Morteza (Author) ; Mohammadi, Somayeh (Supervisor) ; Saniee Monfared, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, reliability assessment of production systems is crucial for ensuring continuous production and minimizing operational and maintenance (O&M) costs. One way to assess reliability at the system level is to create a reliability block diagram (RBD) and estimate the failure rates of equipment over their operational periods. This approach has been utilized in this thesis, focusing on assessment of the reliability of various units within the methanol plant at Khark Petrochemical Complex. In this context, understanding the condition of the equipment criticality is essential for constructing the reliability block diagram. The Crespo model and total criticality per risk (CTR) measure have been...

The present model assumes the collection of rail and wheel as elastic deformable bodies and needs numerical and novel analytical solutions. Results of this work are close to the Hertz Stress, previous published work and FEM results, in which good agreements are found among the results. So, we can rely on this method and their results. With this approach, suitable results...

    , Article Journal of Intelligent and Fuzzy Systems ; Volume 29, Issue 2 , 2015 , Pages 975-986 ; 10641246 (ISSN) Monfared, H ; Salmanpour, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    IOS Press  2015
    Abstract
In this paper, a generalized intelligent water drops algorithm (IWD) for solving robot path planning problem is proposed. The authors want to reduce the time of reaching the optimal solution as much as possible. To do this, some new heuristic operators and a multi section graph model of environment is introduced. The authors divide graph to equal sections and compare behaviour of the solutions (paths) in each section with behaviour of them in other sections. This comparison uses a fuzzy inference system. Base on this comparison, a fuzzy number is assigned to each part of solutions. This fuzzy number determines the worth of a solution in a section. Less worth solutions need more improvement....

Amino acids and their complex formation properties with divalent metal ions, a comparative investigation of structure and stability in binary systems

    , Article Current Pharmaceutical Analysis ; Volume 10, Issue 2 , 2014 , Pages 122-134 ; ISSN: 15734129 Sajadi, S. A. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2014
    Abstract
A comparative investigation has been developed for the stability constants of several amino acid complexes with divalent metal ions, which have been determined by potentiometric pH titration. Depending on the metal ion-binding properties, vital differences in the building complexes were observed. The present study indicates that in some M(L) complexes, metal ions are arranged in carboxyl groups, but in other M(L)complexes, some metal ions are able to build chelate over amine groups. The results mentioned-above demonstrate that for some M(L) complexes, the stability constants are also largely determined by the affinity of metal ions for amine group. This leads to a kind of selectivity of...

    Abstract
The acidity and stability constants of M-Met (M: M2+; Met 1: L-methionine) complexes, determined by potentiometric pH titrations, were used to make a comparative investigation with L-cysteine (Cys). It is shown that regarding to M ion - binding properties vital differences on complex bilding were considered. It is demonstrated, that in M-Met complexes, M ion is coordinated to the carboxyl group, M ion is also able to build macrochelate over amine group. The upmentioned results demonstrate that for M-Met complex the stability constants is also largly determined by the affinity of Cu2+ for amino group but in opposite to Met, some metal ions such as Co2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ build with Cys 2...

    Abstract
Waste water from ore plant layout central Alborz's coal has been investigated and analyzed. Studies showed that because of acidic character, the waste water contains heavy metals including Cu, Cr, Ba, Zn, V, Sr, Pb, Ni. Considering the importance of this topic for outgoing acidic waste waters which is hazardous for the environment, i.e. heavy metals, the same should not be transferred into the environment. Since their waste water is transferred into nearby agricultural ground, it was developed a method, so that waste water is primarily directed into a slug pond for sedimentation. In the second stage in another pond, the outflow of waste water was treated with chemicals. Also the pH was...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sajadi, Ali (Author) ; Darbandi, Masoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, the study of flow and heat transfer in turbine engines has become critical due to their increasing use and importance in various engineering industries. The critical issue of blade burning in the first row of turbine’s blades illuminates the critical roles of numerical and experimental activities in reducing these undesirable effects. Since blade cooling is directly related to the secondary air system, one important issue in blade burning research is to utilize the conjugate heat transfer approach. As Known, an increase of about 1% in the mass flow of air entering into the secondary air system would cause an increase of about 0.5% in the engine specific fuel consumption (SFC),...
