    Stability of Stratified Two-Phase Flow by Chebyshev Collocation Method

    Abstract
    In this thesis fluid flow stability will be studied using Chebychev collocation spectral method. In general instability occurs between layers of a single fluid or at the interface of two different fluids. In case of an unstable flow small imposed perturbations on the flow will grow with time and their amplitudes will grow larger. Instability in most cases is an unfavorable phenomenon and therefore should be avoided.Two-phase flow processes in horizontal or vertical pipes under various conditions like natural or forced convection are of considerable importance in industrial applications.     Abstract
    It is well known that the polarization signal in microlensing events of hot stars is larger than that of main-sequence stars. Most hot stars rotate rapidly around their stellar axes. The stellar rotation creates ellipticity and gravity-darkening effects that break the spherical symmetry of the source's shape and the circular symmetry of the source's surface brightness respectively. Hence, it causes a net polarization signal for the source star. This polarization signal should be considered in polarimetric microlensing of fast rotating stars.     Abstract
    We investigate whether or not Gaia can specify the binary fractions of massive stellar populations in the Galactic disk through astrometric microlensing. Furthermore, we study whether or not some information about their mass distributions can be inferred via this method. In this regard, we simulate the binary astrometric microlensing events due to massive stellar populations according to the Gaia observing strategy by considering (i) stellar-mass black holes, (ii) neutron stars, (iii) white dwarfs, and (iv) main-sequence stars as microlenses.     Simulation of a strategy for the pixel lensing of M87 using the Hubble Space Telescope

    Abstract
    In this paper, we propose a new strategy for the pixel-lensing observations of M87 in the Virgo cluster using theHubble Space Telescope(HST). In contrast to a previous observational strategy by Baltz et al., we show that a few days of intensive observations with the duration of ~90 min in eachHSTorbit will increase the observational efficiency of high-magnification events by more than one order of magnitude. We perform a Monte Carlo simulation for this strategy and we show that the number of high-magnification microlensing events will increase at the rate of 4.2 events per day with a typical transit time-scale of 16 h.     Gravitational microlensing can be used as a unique astrophysical tool to study the atmospheres of stars thousands of parsec away from us. This capability results from the bending of light rays in the gravitational field of a lens that can magnify the light of a background source star during the lensing. Moreover, one of the consequences of this light bending is that the circular symmetry of the source is broken because distorted images are produced at either side of the lens position.     We study the benefits of polarimetry observations of microlensing events to detect and characterize circumstellar discs around the microlensed stars located at the Galactic bulge. These discs which are unresolvable from their host stars make a net polarization effect due to their projected elliptical shapes. Here in this paper we study the gravitational microlensing effect of a binary lens on a parent star with a hot Jupiter revolving around it.
