Digital Image Processing Using Sparse Representation Based on Iterative Methods
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Marvasti, Farrokh (Supervisor)
Abstract
The main purpose of the thesis is Digital image Processing using the sparsity of image. The issue could be described in two ways. First is reconstruction of missed blocks of an image based on the sparsity of image in the transform domain and second is impulsive noise removal using the sparsity of noise in the spatial domain. In the first approach we will review Guleryuz method and simulate and analyze it. In the second approach, two new methods named RDE and Knockout will be introduced. These methods try two remove the impulsive noise of an image using its sparseness. RDE method is a development of conventional methods, but Knockout has a completely new idea. We will show that Knockout is...

, Article Analytica Chimica Acta ; Volume 513, Issue 2 , 2004 , Pages 445-449 ; 00032670 (ISSN) ; Mohammadi, A ; Salemi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
2004
Abstract
A pyrrole-based conductive polymer was prepared and applied as new sorbent for on-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) of phenol and chlorophenols from water samples. Polypyrrole (PPy) was synthesized by chemical oxidation of the monomer in non-aqueous solution. The efficiency of this polymer for extraction of phenol and chlorophenols was evaluated using 35 mg of PPy as the sorbent in an on-line SPE system coupled to reversed-phase liquid chromatography with UV detection. The mobile phase were mixture of phosphate buffer-acetonitrile and compounds were eluted by the mobile phase using a six-port switching valve. High volumes of water, up to 160 ml, could be preconcentrated without the loss of...
A novel Intrusion Detection System for Mobile Ad-Hoc Network Based on Clustering
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Movaghar, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
A Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is a self-configuring network that is formed automatically by a collection of mobile nodes without the help of a fixed infrastructure or centralized management. In recent years, the use of MANETs has been widespread in many applications, including some mission critical applications, and as such security has become one of the major concerns in MANETs. Due to some unique characteristics of MANETs, prevention methods alone are not sufficient to make them secure; therefore, detection should be added as another defense before an attacker can breach the system. In this thesis, we have expressed some well-known and related intrusion detection systems. Besides we have...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Pak, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
Mount Polley Tailings Storage Facility (MP-TSF) failed on its perimeter embankment on August 4, 2014, when its 9th construction stage has just been completed. The failure releasedmillions of m3 of toxic tailings, supernatant water and construction materials todownstream. Up to this point, some research studies have been conducted into the causes of the failure. These studies have considered the stability of the TSF in different stages of its construction as well as in the last stage. The aim of the present study is to investigate the causes of the very failure, using numerical methods by the aid of the finite element based software, PLAXIS 2D. In the present study, the results of the...

, Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1136, Issue 2 , 2006 , Pages 170-175 ; 00219673 (ISSN) ; Lacorte, S ; Bagheri, H ; Barceló, D ; Sharif University of Technology
2006
Abstract
An automated technique based on purge-and-trap coupled to gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection has been developed and optimized for the trace determination of five of the most important water odorants; 2-isopropyl-3-methoxypyrazine, 2-isobutyl-3-methoxypyrazine, 2-methylisoborneol, 2,4,6-trichloroanisole and geosmin. The extraction method was absolutely solvent-free. Analytes were purged from 20 ml of water sample containing sodium chloride at room temperature by a flow of He and trapped on a Tenax sorbent. The desorption step was performed with helium and temperature programming and desorbed analytes were directly transferred to a gas chromatograph coupled to a mass...
Position Control of Magnetic Catheter with External Permanent Magnet
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Selk Ghafari, Ali (Supervisor) ; Nejat Pishkenari, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
The precise positioning of magnetic catheters is critical for a range of medical procedures, ensuring efficacy while minimizing potential complications. This research delves into the position control of a magnetic catheter influenced by an external permanent magnet. Due to the intricate and complex equations describing the plant's behavior, a neural network approach was deemed suitable for modeling. Using a 5 degree of freedom manipulator carrying an external permanent magnet, data was gathered from real-world positionings, tracking the coordination of the magnetic catheter's end. These data points served to train the neural network, subsequently allowing for an effective simulation of the...
Trace determination of free formaldehyde in DTP and DT vaccines and diphtheria-tetanus antigen by single drop microextraction and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry
, Article Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis ; Volume 50, Issue 3 , 2009 , Pages 287-292 ; 07317085 (ISSN) ; Ghambarian, M ; Salemi, A ; Es Haghi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
2009
Abstract
An immersed single drop microextraction (SDME) method was successfully developed for the trace enrichment of formaldehyde from DTP and DT vaccines and diphtheria-tetanus antigen. The formaldehyde was derivatized by means of the Hantzsch reaction. The dehydropyridine derivative was extracted into a microdrop of chloroform that suspended in a 4 ml sample solution for a preset time. The microdrop was then retracted into the microsyringe and injected directly into a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) injection port. Effects of different parameters such as the type of solvent, extraction time, stirring rate, and temperature were studied and optimized. The limit of detection was 0.22...

Abstract
The hydroxyapatite coating on metal implants is a suitable method to create a bioactive surface and to increase the bone-implant bonding strength. In this research, at first the titanium surface was treated with NaOH solutions ; 5N and 10N at 60°C for 24 h and 5N at 60°C for 24 h followed by heating at 600°C for 1 h. The samples were immersed in the simulated body fluid (SBF) for 28 days to generate a calcium phosphate coating on titanium substrates. The modified substrates and coatings were characterized using SEM and XRD. According to the results obtained in this work the concentration increase of the NaOH solution has influenced the grain boundaries, whereas the heat treatment at 600°C...

Abstract
In the late 1980s, the International Maritime Organization started working on reducing air pollution by ships, and the result was the approval of Annex 6 of MARPOL and its mandatory implementation since 2005. Since then, due to the increasing importance of pollutant emissions in the maritime transport industry and the stricter regulations of the International Maritime Organization and the high cost of fuel for ships, ship owners are looking for ways to reduce fuel consumption. For this purpose, various activities related to reducing the fuel consumption of ships were carried out. Among these, the use of energy saving devices can be a solution. Recently, the hull vane, as a fixed underwater...
