    Optimization of multilateral well trajectories using pattern search and genetic algorithms

    Abstract
    Multilateral well is a promising technology in developing oil reservoirs. Because this technology may increase the production rate per well and reduce the costs of field development, it is rapidly replacing the old methods. This study uses a three-dimensional line-source model with direct search methods, including pattern search and genetic algorithms to optimize the well trajectories. This method was applied to several cases, with different forms of wells and reservoirs. In all cases, significant improvement was observed in the production rate.     Abstract
    Eight new chitin derivatives have been synthesized via SN2 reaction of primary and secondary amines with tosylchitin. The products were characterized using FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. A degree of substitution ∼ 1 was achieved through this process. Notably, entorhinal cortex (EC) activity is associated with the successful working memory task.     In this work the Ghotbi-Vera mean spherical approximation (GV-MSA) model, coupled with two different expressions for the cation-hydrated diameters, was used in predicting the mean ionic activity coefficients (MIAC) of electrolytes for a number of the mixed-solvent and mixed-salt electrolyte solutions at 25 °C. In all cases the cation diameters in solutions changed with concentration of electrolyte while the anion diameters were considered to be constant and equal to the corresponding Pauling diameters.     An easy and ecofriendly method for designing double-network (DN) hydrogels based on chitosan and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) with high mechanical performance is described. When covalent bonds in the networks are used as crosslinking agents in the achievement of a higher mechanical strength, the irreversible deformation of these hydrogels after a large force is applied is still one of the most important obstacles.     In the present study, we attempt to synthesize and characterize novel CMC-g-poly (acrylic acid-co-2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid)/silica gel composite.     The novel N2O2 unsymmetrical tetradentate Schiff bases complexes are used as catalysts for the selective aerobic oxidation of cyclohexene. In general, conversion percentages decrease with increasing ΔEp and decreasing Eredox 0′. Catalytic activity increases with decrease of the number of electron-donating groups and the catalytic selectivity varies according to the types of substituents in the ligands. The catalytic system described here is an inexpensive method for selective oxidation of olefins, with advantages of high activity, selectivity, re-usability and short reaction times.     PEGylated MoS2 nanoflower (MoS2-NF) and nanosheet (MoS2-NS) are synthesized through a one-pot hydrothermal method as photo absorbing agent (PAA). It is found that employing different thiol precursors result in distinct morphologies. The products are structurally, chemically, and morphologically characterized. Electron microscopy demonstrates the formation of sheet and flower morphologies of MoS2.     In this study, a novel hybrid hydrogel based on chitosan, acrylic acid and amine-functionalized nanosilica was prepared and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy. This hydrogel nanocomposite was used for removal of Co2+, Cu2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+ ions from aqueous solution. The metal ion adsorption was measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.
