Design and Implementation of Sound-based IoT Systems for Environment Control and monitoring
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Gholampour, Iman (Supervisor)
Abstract
The processing of audio signals can be very widely used in the Internet of Things because by using audio signals, valuable information can be obtained from the activities of the environment. Environmental sound processing and investigation can be used in applications such as industrial troubleshooting security systems, etc. For this, it is necessary to build a sound recognition and classification system. In this thesis, we have evaluated the features obtained from feature engineering and feature learning and the use of various machine learning methods for the audio event classification system. To test and evaluate the system, known data in this field have been used. Finally, by proposing an...

Abstract
Different values have been assigned to the ratio of the deflection amplification factor (Cd ) to the response modification factor (R) for a specified force-resisting system in the seismic design provisions while the same application is defined for it. An analytical study of the seismic responses of several reinforced concrete frames subjected to a suite of earthquake records performed in this research indicate that the stories’ overstrength and stiffness distribution along the structural height can affect local deflections more than global ones. Therefore, the Cd /R ratio is calculated based on the ratio of both maximum inelastic to maximum elastic displacements and...
Does the short-term boost of renewable energies guarantee their stable long-term growth? Assessment of the dynamics of feed-in tariff policy

Abstract
Feed-in tariff (FiT) is one of the most efficient ways that many governments throughout the world use to stimulate investment in renewable energies (REs) technology. For governments, financial management of the policy could be challenging as it needs a considerable amount of budget to support RE producers during the long remuneration period. In this paper, it has been illuminated that the early growth of REs capacity could be a temporary boost. And the socio-economic structure of the system will backlash the policy if some social mechanisms are not considered. Social tolerance for paying REs tax and potential investors’ trust emanated from budget-related mechanisms -which have rarely been...
