Abstract
First stage blades tempreture in the turbine rotor section for the advanced turbines has increased up to 1100oc. The blades should be under mentioned condition for the long times up to 70000 hours and accordingly creep happens. Fatigue–creep interaction is the main reason for the failures of many engineering components under high temperature and cyclic loading. In this thesis, a model for the life prediction of fatigue–creep interaction which was developed by other investigators has been modified to predict fatigue–creep interaction on the nickel-based superalloys. In this model, the law of energy conservation and the momentum conservation principle are used to describe the process of...
Molecular dynamics simulation of manipulation of metallic nanoclusters on double-layer substrates [electronic resource]
, Article Physica E: Low-dimensional Systems and Nanostructures ; 2010, Vol. 42, No. 9, pp. 2364-2374 ; Meghdari, Ali ; Jalili, Nader ; Amiri, Farshid ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Molecular dynamics simulations are carried out to investigate the manipulation of metallic clusters on double-layer surfaces. The system parts are made of transition metals. The conditions which are subjected to change in the tests are material combinations for cluster, main substrate and lubricant layer (adlayer). In addition to qualitative observations, two criteria which represent the particle deformation and substrate abrasion are utilized as evaluation tools and are computed for each case. Obtaining this sort of knowledge is highly beneficial for further experiments in order to be able to plan the conditions and routines, which guarantee better success in the manipulation process

Abstract
Computed Tomography (CT) medical images show a specific part of human body and present it in a digital form. Lossless image compression is one of the medical imaging applications. To implement such application on hardware we need a simple and fast algorithm. Differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) is a simple and efficient method for transforming image. In this paper best predictor for DPCM introduce in a manner in which has the best result in compression and also be efficient for hardware implementation. After transforming image by DPCM, Huffman encoding used to compress image. We introduce this method with application to brain CT images
Effect of Zr addition on the aging behavior of A319 aluminum cast alloy
, Article Scripta Materialia ; Volume 52, Issue 4 , 2005 , Pages 253-257 ; 13596462 (ISSN) ; Mahmudi, R ; Khomamizadeh, F ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
The structure, age hardening response, precipitate type and hardness of A319 cast aluminum alloy without and with zirconium addition were investigated. The as-solutionized and artificially-aged hardness values were higher for the Zr-containing alloy. This is believed to be a consequence of the precipitation of Al3Zr particles produced during sufficiently long solutionizing treatments. © 2004 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Determination of tearing energy from uniaxial tension tests of aluminum alloy sheet
, Article Journal of Materials Processing Technology ; Volume 147, Issue 2 , 2004 , Pages 185-190 ; 09240136 (ISSN) ; Mohammadi, R ; Sepehrband, P ; Sharif University of Technology
2004
Abstract
Tearing energy of AA5010 aluminum alloy sheets has been studied by the single tensile testing (STT) and multiple tensile testing (MTT) methods. The total energy required to tear the specimens was assumed to be composed of two components; one associated with uniform plastic deformation, which occurs in the work-hardening range of the material, and the other with post-uniform deformation and tearing which leads to the failure of the specimens. In the STT method, tearing energy was calculated by subtracting the plastic deformation energy, dissipated in the uniform deformation range, from the total energy absorbed by a single specimen during tension. In the MTT method, which uses different...

Abstract
Medical images include information about human body which are used for different purposes such as surgical and diagnostic plans. Compression of medical images is used in some applications such as profiling patient's data and transmission systems. Regard to importance of medical images information, lossless or near-lossless compression is preferred. Lossless JPEG, JPEG-LS and lossless version of JPEG2000 are few well-known methods for lossless compression. JPEG2000 is one of the latest and provides good compression ratio, however, it is complex [1]. In real time application which needs hardware implementation, low complex algorithm accelerates compression process. In this paper, a lossless...
Comparison study between dyadic wavelet transform and modified higher order moment

Abstract
Pitch detection is the process of determining the period of the vocal cords closure or in another word the time duration of one glottal closed, open and returning phase. Dyadic wavelets transform (DyWT) and modified higher order moment, are two pitch detection methods. DyWT is an accurate pitch detection method, however it has less accuracy compared to modified higher order moment. On the other hand modified higher order moment has high computational complexity and is time consuming. The DyWT pitch period detection is based on a two pass dyadic wavelet transform over a signal. Modified higher order moment is based on autocorrelation function (ACF) and in this method the speech signal has...

Abstract
Remote Sensing (RS) images or satellite images include information about earth. Compression of RS images is important in the field of satellite transmission systems and mass storage purposes. Abstract
Based on the fact that the manipulation of fine nanoclusters calls for more precise modelling, the aim of this paper is to conduct an atomistic investigation for interaction analysis of particle-substrate system for pushing and positioning purposes. In the present research, 2D molecular dynamics simulations have been used to investigate such behaviours. Performing the planar simulations can provide a fairly acceptable qualitative tool for our purpose while the computation time is reduced extremely in comparison to 3D simulations. To perform this study, Nose-Hoover dynamics and Sutton-Chen interatomic potential will be used to investigate the behaviour of the aforementioned system. Pushing of...

In addition to qualitative observations, two criteria which represent the particle deformation and substrate abrasion are utilized as evaluation tools and are computed for each case. Simulation results show the effect of the aforementioned working conditions on...
