, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Izadi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Recognizing people mentioned in the text of narrations, is of the main importance in validating narrations in narration analysis. The problem naturally reduces to two sub-problems: Firstly, named entities related to narrators in the text should be determined. Secondly, if they are ambigous, the purpose of each should be clearified. In this resaerch, it is tried to apply pre-trained language models in soultion of the first sub-problem. For the purpose of entity linking with entities in a KB, graph-based model is suggested

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Faraji Astaneh, Amin (Supervisor)
Abstract
In recent years, a series of deep connections have been found between the ideas that used to be in the Algebraic Theory of Quantum Fields and the important problems of High Energy and Fundamental Physics. In the 1960s and later, some people who were mostly closer to mathematicians were trying to formulate the basics and principles of Quantum Field Theory in mathematically precise way. Many and various efforts have been made in this direction. One of these important efforts has been the Algebraic Theory of Quantum Fields. The main motivation in the Algebraic Theory of Quantum Fields is to focus on the operators and observables of the theory and study the algebraic structure between them instead...
Critical Success Factors in Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Social Networks
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Isaei, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor) ; Sepehri, Mehran (Supervisor)
Abstract
The control and management of social networks’ potentials has been an important research subject for many organizations and researchers in recent years. Social network of an organization includes all the people that at least once have established a social relationship with the organization directly or indirectly. This relationship can be formal or informal, spontaneous or controlled, and deep or shallow. But in any case, the stronger the communication between people’s social relationships (as members of that social network) become and the more increases in the number of members of that social network, the easier path to success the organization could achieve. Hence, the critical success...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Adibnazari, Saeed (Supervisor)
Abstract
Additive manufacturing (AM) has gained significant attention in recent years as a novel approach to fabricate three-dimensional parts. Its advantages, including high speed, low-cost production for small-scale batches, and greater design freedom, have made it a competitive alternative to traditional manufacturing methods. However, the application of AM for components subjected to fretting fatigue requires careful evaluation. Fretting fatigue is a major cause of failure in turbines, particularly at the contact interface between turbine blade roots and disk. In this study, the influence of AM and post-processing treatments on the fretting fatigue life of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was investigated. Five...
A grid-based collaborative supply chain with multi-product multi-period production-distribution
, Article Enterprise Information Systems ; Volume 6, Issue 1 , 2012 , Pages 115-137 ; 17517575 (ISSN) ; Sharif University of Technology
2012
Abstract
A collaborative supply chain seeks to coordinate its members to produce and distribute products along the chain for minimum overall costs to satisfy customer demand. An integrated multi-period, multi-product and multi-stage supply chain model is developed. A collaborative supply chain grid (CSCG) system gathers necessary information on operations and resources from members of the supply chain. It then guides the members on ordering decisions for a minimum overall cost, while continuously re-directing them as new data becomes available. An actual CSCG system has been implemented in a collaborative auto industry with diverse and dynamic membership, yielding an approximately 26% reduction in...
Cost and inventory benefits of cooperation in multi-period and multi-product supply
, Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 18, Issue 3 E , 2011 , Pages 731-741 ; 10263098 (ISSN) ; Sharif University of Technology
2011
Abstract
Cooperation among supply chain members, both horizontally and vertically, has become the norm in practice. Unlike traditional supply chains with members competing to reduce their individual costs, the overall cost of the entire supply chain is minimized in a cooperative supply chain. The savings from cooperation may be shared among the members, while a lower average cost and a lower cost variation is materialized for individual members. The problem is formulated as an integrated flow network and expanded to multi-period and multi-product, with the possibility of holding inventories in a multi-stage, multi-member cooperative supply chain. Simulation results indicate an approximately 26%...

Abstract
Every project is temporary and unique in nature. However, knowledge and lessons learned in projects may be used in other projects to improve the project management services. A learned lesson comes from past and current projects, captured through well-defined organizational processes. It aims to capture an essence of an experience which may be utilized to modify the project processes, or the situations for which that lesson applies. Although lessons learned is used in many industries and is an essential part of Project Management Body of Knowledge, no effective process has been defined to capture, validate, and reuse projects' lessons learned. A three stage system was developed and used to...

Abstract
Numerous projects are underway in emerging countries, such as Iran, where technology transfer and economic expansion are the primary national objectives. However, majority of these projects either fall, according to world class standards, or faced with significant time delays. An Initial analysis of selected projects reveals that over 60% of causes belong to organization factors, while environment and personal causes are less than 40%. The overwhelming evidence points of lack of proper project management and education within organization factors. Some prescriptive interventions are proposed to counter organization deficiencies and overcome consistent time delays. A planning stage using...

A quantitative examination of competition, coopetition and cooperation in supply chains
, Article South African Journal of Business Management ; Volume 42, Issue 3 , 2011 , Pages 61-70 ; 03789098 (ISSN) ; Fayazbakhsh, K ; Sharif University of Technology
2011
Abstract
Traditionally, the members of a supply chain compete to reduce their individual costs. However, as collaborative supply chain approach is urged within industries to reduce the overall costs, either full cooperation or partial coopetition is considered by the members. In cooperative approach, members benefit from lower overall costs and lower cost variations. But individually, some seem better off in a competitive approach in a single period considering their local costs. Coopetition, or partial cooperation, may be suggested as a compromise to lower overall supply chain costs, while members choose alliances towards lower average costs and cost variations. A multi-stage, multi-member,...
A multi-period and multi-product optimizer for cooperative supply chains
, Article South African Journal of Business Management ; Volume 43, Issue 1 , 2012 , Pages 77-92 ; 03789098 (ISSN) ; Fayazbakhsh, K ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Members in a traditional supply chain compete to reduce their individual costs. But total cost is minimized in a cooperative, or a corporate managed, supply chain. A lower average cost and a lower cost variation are achieved by cooperative individual members in the long-run. The problem is formulated and solved as an integrated flow network. Previous research is expanded to include multi-period and multi-product cooperative supply chain with possibility of holding inventory in a multi-stage, multi-member setup. A Cooperative Supply Optimizer System (CSOS), a software-based coordination mechanism, is developed for large chains. It gathers operational information from members of the supply...

Abstract
Purpose: This study aim to examine the roots of professional resistance of procurement in Iran. Public procurement (PP) contracts, in developing countries, hide the structural problems of governmental management because of the lack of bureaucratic processes. Design/methodology/approach: A two-phase qualitative study offers contextual and critical understandings on why Iranian PP experts, who are aware of the philosophies behind internationally endorsed principles, prefer to resist against the use of those principles. They help, unexpectedly, their traditionalist companions to resolve the difficulties of the PP contracts by the use of local methods and routines. Findings: Evidence, from...
