Abstract
Standpoints about atrium design have been revolutionized. Nowadays, design of atrium is not only for shine of light, but is also for natural ventilation as well. In high rise building, residents have not a same advantage of buoyancy-driven ventilation that arising from existence of atrium. One strategy to more equalize ventilation and thermal comfort in different levels, is designing building with various opening area in different heights. Present study aims to overcome the problem by changing the atrium shape. Thus, the atrium's wall angularity is changed in different case studies and these shapes are compared with each other in order to find the relations between atrium wall angularity and...

Abstract
A new experimental facility was designed, fabricated and tested to model and study the possibility of applying the bidirectional swirl flow on the combustion chamber of airbreathing subsonic ramjet engine. Appropriate intake was designed to convert axial external air to tangential swirl flow inside the combustion chamber. Inlets with appropriate angles conduct the swirl flow into the chamber and create bidirectional swirl flow field in the combustion chamber. This flow field has been modeled theoretically to determine the velocity field characteristics by previous researchers. Bidirectional swirl flow in liquid fuel ramjet engines has the proven advantage of keeping the combustion chamber...
An investigation into the effect of alloying elements on the recrystallization behavior of 70/30 brass
, Article Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance ; Volume 19, Issue 4 , June , 2010 , Pages 553-557 ; 10599495 (ISSN) ; Roshanghias, A ; Abbaszadeh, H ; Akbari, G. H ; Sharif University of Technology
2010
Abstract
An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model has been designed for predicting the effects of alloying elements (Fe, Si, Al, Mn) on the recrystallization behavior and microstructural changes of 70/30 brass. The model introduced here considers the content of alloying elements, temperature, and time of recrystallization as inputs while percent of recrystallization is presented as output. It is shown that the designed model is able to predict the effect of alloying elements well. It is also shown that all alloying elements strongly affect the recrytallization kinetics, and all slow down the recrystallization process. The effect of alloying elements on the activation energy for recrystallization has...

Abstract
Privacy preservation in wireless sensor networks has drawn considerable attention from research community during last few years. Emergence of single-owner, multi-user commercial sensor networks along with hostile and uncontrollable environment of such networks, makes the security issue in such networks of a great importance. This paper concentrates on token-based privacy preservation schemes. A possible attack on such schemes has been introduced. Two different approaches has been utilized to mitigate the attack. We present mathematical models for it's effects and overheads. The results have been verified using extensive simulations

Abstract
The present study conducts a comprehensive comparative techno-economic analysis of some near-term sensible thermal energy storage (TES) alternatives to the ‘standard’ two-tank molten salt system for concentrated solar power (CSP) plants. As such, we conducted detailed, relative annual transient simulations for single-medium thermocline (SMT), dual-media thermocline (DMT), and shell-and-tube (ST) systems. To be consistent with recent literature, the DMT and ST systems use concrete with a porosity of 0.2 (e.g. where concrete occupies 80% of the system) as their low cost filler material. The systems were integrated into a validated 19.9 MWe Gemasolar CSP model, which has a solar multiple of...

Abstract
In this study, dynamic adsorption behavior of different gaseous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on a new modified M-MIL-101(Cr) was investigated with a great emphasis on gasoline adsorption. The M-MIL-101(Cr) was synthesized, along with comprehensive purification procedures, using a new linker to cluster molar ratio (2:1 instead of 1:1) and different modulators (i.e. HF and HNO3). All prepared adsorbents were characterized by XRD, FTIR, FE-SEM and N2 adsorption-desorption at 77 K. The results showed that surface area and pore volume of the M-MIL-101@Free (i.e. modified MIL-101(Cr) with using any modulator) which were 4293 m2/g and 2.43 cm3/g, greatly elevated up to 37.2% and 71.6% against...

Abstract
In optoelectronic OTIS multicomputer networks (also known as Swapped networks), electrical and optical interconnects are used for local and global communication, respectively. An interesting instance of the OTIS multicomputers is the OTIS-mesh. Pancyclicity is of great importance in the implementation of a variety of parallel algorithms in multicomputers. This paper addresses the Pancyclicity problem of OTIS-mesh. Abstract
Despite the numerous researches in Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) risk of austenitic stainless steels in aqueous chloride solution, no formulation or reliable method for prediction of time to failure as a result of SCC has yet been defined. In this paper, the capability of artificial neural network for estimation of the time to failure for SCC of 304 stainless steel in aqueous chloride solution together with sensitivity analysis has been expressed. The output results showed that artificial neural network can predict the time to failure for about 74% of the variance of SCC experimental data. Furthermore, the sensitivity analysis also demonstrated the effects of input parameters (Temperature,...
Adding backlash to the connection elements can improve the performance of a robotic exoskeleton
, Article Mechanism and Machine Theory ; Volume 152 , 2020 ; Behzadipour, S ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Kinematic mismatch between exoskeletons and human body results in excess internal forces/torques and hence discomfort as well as increase the power consumption. The connection stiffness has been shown to have potentials for minimizing the kinematic mismatch effects. However, realization of a desired stiffness in the connection element seems difficult if not impractical. In this work, adding controlled backlash to the exoskeleton-body connection is investigated as a possible solution for the kinematic mismatch challenge. A stiffness model which includes backlash parameters was formulated and identified experimentally using three male subjects on a typical lower extremity exoskeleton. A...

Abstract
Network marketing is a business model that depends upon a network of distributors for growth, such as in multilevel marketing. A direct selling method features independent agents that make up a distribution network for goods and services. This paper provides a framework to study the network marketing by adopting the traditional channel. To motivate all distributers in network marketing as well as retailers, it is required to design a well-balanced distribution and pricing system. The allocated commission for distributers in different layers of network marketing is part of pricing system, which is vital. In this paper, we develop an approach to determine all elements of system, including...
The Concept of Truth in Husserl’s Phenomenology
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rashidian, Abdolkarim (Supervisor)
Abstract
Concept of Truth is the most fundamental concept in any intellectual activity. Knowledge systems are distinguished, above all, by their different viewpoint about truth and different criteria which they present for determining truth. Phenomenology, that its motto is returning to things as such, should introduce a definition of truth free from the presuppositions which lie in the definitions (implied or expressed ones) of it in most knowledge systems. In this project, we try to clarify concept of truth as correlation of transcendental act in philosophy of Husserl, and also study antecedents and consequents of this conception. In this project we investigate the place of the idea of “truth” in...
On Some Pancyclicity Properties of OTIS Network
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Movaghar, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
A parallel computer system is composed of a collection of processors used to speed up running a program or performance of multiple programs. If we consider the processors as nodes and the channels between processors as edges, the constructed graph represents an interconnection networks. Network topology affects performance and energy consumption of interconnection network very much. Some parameters of topology quality are low node degree and diameter, high connectivity degree and bisection width and symmetry. Since some of these parameters are in contrast with others, a network with more parameter improvements, is more desirable. Finding cycles with specific length and particularly ...

Abstract
The free vibration analysis of rotating axially functionally graded nanobeams under an in-plane nonlinear thermal loading is provided for the first time in this paper. The formulations are based on Timoshenko beam theory through Hamilton’s principle. The small-scale effect has been considered using the nonlocal Eringen’s elasticity theory. Then, the governing equations are solved by generalized differential quadrature method. It is supposed that the thermal distribution is considered as nonlinear, material properties are temperature dependent, and the power-law form is the basis of the variation of the material properties through the axial of beam. Free vibration frequencies obtained are...
