Study on Nucleation and Growth of Titanium Dioxide Nano Particles via Gel-Sol Method
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Askari, Masoud (Supervisor)
Abstract
Nanotechnology is an efficient method suitable for fabrication and production of minimal single dimensional nanometric structures. Such materials and systems can be logically designed that lead to new and optimized biological, chemical and physical properties and characteristics due to their size. Nucleation and growth –appearance of a new phase out of an old phase – is a ubiquitous phenomenon in nature. Fundamental understanding of nanoparticles nucleation and growth mechanism allows more control on form, size and composition and allows tuning of the above said properties easily with use of different reactive conditions as a result of this ability . Nanoparticles of titania are one of...

Abstract
Power Inverter or DC to AC voltage converter is one of the most important and widely discussed topics in the world of power electronics and systems such as DC/DC converters. Increasing the switching frequency of the inverter, in addition to its many advantages, also creates challenges that will be addressed in this dissertation. To build a high frequency yet reliable inverter, you need accurate and comprehensive information about the inverter circuitry, parasitic elements, switches and their behavior against fault conditions such as short circuit, protection requirements and etc.In this dissertation, several MOSFET transistors is shorted under various test conditions while parameters...
Improving the Performormance of an Ultra Narrow Pulse Generator based on Transmission Lines
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kaboli, Shahryar (Supervisor)
Abstract
The ultra-narrow pulse generator have being used for direct production of pulsed power. One of these structures is being used to make a bipolar pulse and its main feature is the utilization of the real transmission lines (not PFN) with an intricate structure that caused volume to be compressed. It is desired to reach an appropriate design by analyzing the output waveform and its relation to the transmission line parameters. A little piece of work has been done in the past but there were some differences from our anticipations in the waveforms, like pre-pulse, long rise and fall times and overshoot that caused by some non-idealities in the structure. What we have done in this project is to...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Yoozbashizadeh, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this research, Chadormalou apatite concentrate was dissolved by 40% nitric acid and a solid to liquid ratio of 0.4 at 70 ° C for 2 hours, and its rare earth elements were dissolved. Recovery percents for Cerum, Neodymium and Lanthanum were 62.4, 48.7 and 49.6, respectively. In the solvent extraction step, the effect of HQ concentration as extractant, pH, temperature and phase ratio on the concentration of the adsorbed elements in organic phase, extraction percentage, distribution ratio and separation factor of rare earths were investigated. Organic solutions containing HQ in the kerosene alone pricipitated after contacting with PLS solutions. In order to prevent HQ pricipitation in the...

, Article E-Polymers ; Dec , 2010 ; 16187229 (ISSN) ; Golzary, A ; Sharif University of Technology
2010
Abstract
In this study, polypropylene/clay nanocomposites were prepared by melt blending method and their thermal conductivity and the thermal conductivity of polypropylene/multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites were investigated and modeled. It is found that the thermal conductivity of the PP/Clay and PP/MWCNT nanocomposites is increased with increasing temperature. The thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites is improved due to incorporation of nanoclay and MWCNT compared with pure PP matrix
Analysis and Improvement of Output Voltage Ripple in High Voltage DC Power Supply
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kaboli, Shahryar (Supervisor)
Abstract
The TWT is highly sensitive to the ripple amplitude of its power supply output voltage. If the amplitude of the output voltage's ripple exceeds a certain limit, the amplitude of the undesired harmonics in the power spectrum of the TWT is greatly increased. Increasing the amplitude of undesired harmonics in the TWT output power spectrum reduces the accuracy and performance of the TWT. Therefore, for optimum TWT performance, a low-ripple power supply is essential. Typically, a low-frequency rectifier or high-frequency switching structure is used to build a high-voltage DC power supply. In this thesis, the different structures of high voltage DC power supplies are studied. Next, by focusing on...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Karimi Taheri, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
A Coiled Carbon Nanotube (CCNT) can be geometrically viewed as a graphene sheet whose rolled and twisted to form a helically coiled nanotube. It is the strongest material ever measured with strengthexceeding more than hundred times of steel. The strength of a CCNT iscritically influenced by temperature, tube diameter, strain rate and pitch angle. In this study,a Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulationis performed to understand the effect of temperature, strain rate, tube diameter and pitch angle on the mechanical properties of CCNTs. Results indicate thatexisting the stone-wales defects is necessaryfor thermodynamic stability of CCNTs.According to the stress-strain curves it was observed thatyield...
Design and Implement of Voltage Ripple Measuring System for Power Supply of Microwave Tubes
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kaboli, Shahryar (Supervisor)
Abstract
Mostly, the high voltage DC power supplies have output voltage ripple. In such an applications like power supply of microwave lamps in radar systems, low output voltage ripple is an important point of operational characteristics. On the other hand, measuring the low voltage ripple will be a challenge that can lead to recognize of its reasons and reduce its amplitude. In this thesis, different ways of ripple measurement constraints is described, then a method based on high pass filters for output voltage ripple measurement is implemented. The impact of components tolerance and their parasitic components like shunt parasitic resistance of a capacitor in filter operational characteristics is...

Abstract
Highly crystalline TiO 2 anatase nanoparticles were synthesized via gel-sol method by using titanium isopropoxide and triethanolamine. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis and nitrogen gas absorption methods. The particle size ranged from 7 to 24 nm having specific surface area of 64 to 220 m 2/g. Selective Ti(OH) 4 gel specifications and hydrothermal test conditions resulted in thermodynamically- stable phase-formation. Aging at 130°C for 4 h resulted in particle size of 7 nm; while at 130 and 160°C for 12 h resulted in 12 and 21 nm, respectively

Abstract
A coiled carbon nanotube (CCNT) can be formed from the distortion of parent toroidal carbon nanotube with a uniform pitch length and a uniform spring rise angle. In this research molecular dynamics simulation was carried out to assess the tensile properties of three CCNT having indexes of (3,3), (4,4), and (5,5). The results indicated that Stone-Wales defects are necessary for thermodynamic stability of the CCNTs. The stress-strain curves showed that the yield stress, yield strain, and failure strain are decreased with increase in temperature. The force-displacement curves revealed that the spring constant of these materials is highly depended on the tube diameter and rising angle, while it...

Abstract
Coiled carbon nanotubes (CCNTs) have increasingly become a vital factor in the new generation of nanodevices and energy-absorbing materials due to their outstanding properties. Here, the multiobjective optimization of CCNTs is applied to assess their mechanical properties. The best trade-off between conflicting mechanical properties (e.g., yield stress and yield strain) is demonstrated and the optimization of the geometry enables us to find the astonishing CCNTs with a stretchability of 400%. These structures have been recognized for the first time in the field. We derived several highly accurate analytical equations for the yield stress and yield strain by the implementation of...
