In this thesis, we investigate the theoretical and experimental vibrations of a cylindrical shell with an electrorheological core. Magnetorheological and electrorheological fluids are the most suitable materials used in smart structures and have various applications in the automotive, aerospace, civil engineering, medical engineering and robotics industries. We use starch particles and silicone oil to make electrorheological fluid. Then we make a sandwich beam with an ER core and extract the modal parameters of the structure using the modal test. The present research is performed to calculate the natural frequencies, loss factors, and associated mode shapes of a sandwich cylinder with moderately thick functionally graded (FG) face sheets and an electrorheological (ER) fluid core. Each face sheet is assumed to be made of FG materials, and its displacement field is estimated based on the first-order shear deformation theory, like the ER constrained layer. Abstract
In the present work, the hot corrosion behavior of two types of multilayer plasma sprayed TBC were investigated and compared with functionally graded and conventional TBCs. These kinds of multilayer coatings consisted of nano/μ alumina as a top coat on YSZ layer, a metallic bond coat and a functionally graded intermediate layer deposited between YSZ and bond coat layers. All the layers were sprayed on the Ni-base super alloy substrate. Abstract
In this study, we discuss the postural stability of a nonprehensile manipulation problem, which deals with multibody objects. As a metric for postural stability, we define PRI. Then, the system is posturally stable, if PRI is inside the convex hull of the object-manipulator contact surface. We then discuss that dynamic biped locomotion is a special case of dynamic nonprehensile manipulation in all aspects; we prove that ZMP (zero-moment point) and FRI (zoot rotation indicator) are special cases of PRI (palm rotation indicator). Abstract
The electrochemical oxidation behavior of the anti-inflammatory drug piroxicam was investigated. A carbon nanoparticle (CNP)-chitosan (CS) film-coated graphite electrode (PGE) was fabricated and the electrochemical behaviors of piroxicam on its surface was investigated by the means of cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). In comparison to the bare PGE, at the surface of the CNP-CS film modified electrode, the oxidation peak current of piroxicam increased significantly and the peak potential shifted negatively. In the present work, edge-functionalaized graphene was used as electrode material and its electrochemical properties were systematically characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Two methods were applied to modify the gold electrode surface. First method was the self assembling process of graphene nanosheets on gold electrode surface. Second method was simply casting specific amounts of graphene suspension on the gold electrode surface. At the first part of this thesis, a pyrolitic graphite electrode (PGE) modified with new coccine/multi-walled carbon nanotubes film (NC/MWCNT) was applied as a sensitive electrochemical sensor for determination and study of electrochemical behavior of tyrosine (Tyr) in aqueous solutions. The results showed that NC/MWCNT caused a remarkable increase in the peak current so the NC/MWCNT/PGE electrode surface was far more sensitive to the concentration of Tyr than the PGE surface. For an undirected graph G, a zero-sum flow is an assignment of non-zero real numbers on the edges of G such that the total sum of all edges incident with any vertex of G is zero. A zero-sum k-flow for a graph G is a zero-sum flow with labels from the set {±1, . . . , ±(k ? 1)}.
