Accommodation of Joint Models for E-Shopping and Product Internet Searching Decisions in Adoption and Frequency
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kermanshah, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Like any other Information Communication Technology (ICT) solution, E-shopping alters shopping trip patterns in a city. Product internet searching is another ICT solution which affects shopping trip patterns in a city. At the first stage, by producing ordinal regression models, this study explores all factors which are effective in adoption and frequency of product internet searching and e-shopping. In the next step, rather than pre-imposing restrictive assumptions regarding dependence, this study determines the structure of dependency between product internet searching and e-shopping with two (adoption and frequency) joint models by implementing the copula-based approach. This study relies...

Abstract
Using two different capacitive cell probes; and monitoring capacitance and resistance values of the air and water liquids, the cell length and conductance effects of the water liquids are studied. Variations of the dielectric air capacitance and reactance capacitance parameter of liquids with cylinder length are investigated. In another study the probe length affects on the capacitance and resistance measurements for the liquid filling process are investigated. Different theories are also developed to calculate the capacitance values for the constructed probes. Capacitance per unit length from the Coulomb theory is different from the Gauss law that is a constant value. Measured air...

Abstract
Decoherence is one of the candidates for solving the measurement problem, and is among the group of theories which are trying to solve the measurement problem within the quantum theory, by removing the wave function reduction axiom. The main idea is to consider the environment of the system which was ignored in the classical physics. The openness of a quantum systems makes the system and its environment entangled, and that leads to the transmission of system information to the environment, and finally, the system loses its individuality. This approach claims that since the observer can’t control and consider all the degrees of freedom of the environment and has only access to the system,...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Saghafi, Fariborz (Supervisor)
Abstract
One of the most important technologies in space missions is capability of moving satellites together with a predefined structure (virtual structure). This structure can reconfigure itself to any desired space mission and it is known as reconfiguration maneuver, in this maneuver all of the satellites have to follow needed virtual structure from any initial configuration to any desired second composition. In available virtual structure methods, there are a lot of limitations in maneuver because of algorithm constraints, in this project we try to extend available algorithm in virtual structure method and reach an algorithm which can start from any initial condition and complete the maneuver in...

Abstract
The purpose of the research is to define and analyze the dominant organizational culture in Kish and to conduct a pilot research in Iran. Designed as a survey, the research employs the five cultural dimensions of Hofstede in organizations, and by different methodology, defines the ranking of each dimension. The sample consists of 254 employees working in two public and five private organizations on Kish-Island. In addition to define the ranking for each of the five dimensions, for the first time in Iran, the survey measures the ranking of long-term orientation, and shows differences between dominant culture in Iran and the Arab countries (opposed to Hofstede's recommendation). The...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Khajehpour, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
Today, the rapid and increasing growth of various human societies has led to an increased consumption of energy and the need for new resources. In fact, the excessive consumption of energy, especially fossil fuels, has caused adverse and sometimes irreversible effects on the human environment. Also, the consumption of different types of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas, leads to a significant increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. On the other hand, population growth and technological advancements in the last century have led to an increase in the demand for energy carriers. Therefore, the use of new energy sources instead of fossil fuels is an inevitable matter....

Abstract
This experimental work is of two parts. First, self-assembled monolayers of cysteamine was formed on the gold electrode surface which leaded to the formation of amine groups on the surface; then amine bond was formed between these amine groups and the carboxylic acid groups of acid treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The modified electrode was used for voltammetric determination of dopamine in the presence of uric acid. In the second part, acid treated MWCNTs were decorated with ruthenium nanoparticles; then the resulting composite was used for surface modification with the exact same procedure as the first part. Ruthenium nanoparticles on the electrode surface were...

Abstract
In traditional game theory, the players play with policy of maximizing their payoffs. In real world, there are many situations where payoffs have uncertainty and are fuzzy in nature. In this paper, a new method for finding pure strategy Nash equilibriums, to realistically analyze the games with fuzzy payoffs is investigated. Using ranking fuzzy numbers, a fuzzy preference relation is constructed over payoffs. The priorities of payoffs are considered as the degree of being Nash equilibriums
A Numerical Study of Bearing Capacity Factors for Shallow Foundations
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ahmadi, Mohammad Mehdi (Supervisor)
Abstract
Determination of ultimate bearing capacity of shallow foundations has been discussed since long time ago in many books and papers. Although this is not generally a new problem, there are still some problems which may be interesting to be investigated in detail using suitable computer programs and by application of appropriate soil models. Comprehensive surveys on bearing capacity coefficients of different foundations have been done by utilizing FLAC software. The failure of soil is governed by the Elasto-Plastic Mohr-coulomb criterion. New graphs and equations have been developed for determining the coefficients. The equations achieved in this study by numerical methods, have been compared...

Multi-Objective VM Consolidation Based on SLA
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Movaghar Rahimabadi, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
The rapid growth in demand for computational resources driven by new applications and services had led to establishment of new cloud data centers. Such Data Centers consume enormous amount of electrical energy resulting in high costs and carbon emissions. Dynamic Consolidation of virtual machines and turning idle hosts off allow cloud providers to reduce energy consumption. But consolidation of virtual machines may leads to quality of service(QoS) degradation and Service level Agreement(SLA) violation. One of the most important reasons for QoS degradation is the migration overhead, therefore the number of VM migrations should be controlled. Over the last few years, VM consolidation problem...
The Effect of Red Light Violation on the Level of Service in Urban Signalized Intersections
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Nassiri, Habibollah (Supervisor)
Abstract
One of the frequent aspects of lawlessness at signalized intersections, is red-light violation (RLV). In addition to its adverse effect on intersection safety, RLV can cause delay in the startup of the vehicles in the next phase defined as “green flow”. In this research, in order to investigate the adverse effect of RLV, the required data were collected from two signalized intersections in the City of Esfahan, Iran using recording cameras. Then, using a cellular network in the intersections and the Aimsun traffic simulation software, the effects of RLV on the delay, capacity, and level of service of the intersections were evaluated. The results show that the behavior of the drivers in the...
Numerical Modeling of Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Behavior of Deep Geothermal Reservoirs
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Pak, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
All societies need energy to meet the basic needs of the people and to carry out the production processes. From 1850 onwards, the global use of fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) for energy production increased, leading to a dramatic increase in the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. Rising carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere and seeing adverse effects such as global warming have prompted the international community to replace fossil fuels with clean energy as much as possible. Geothermal energy as one of the clean, sustainable and extensive sources can be one of the available solutions to meet this need.Numerical modeling of geothermal...

Abstract
This study aims to investigate, optimize, and simulate the dispersed phase holdup at flooding conditions for the standard physical systems in a pulsed extraction column with the disc-doughnut configuration. The interaction impacts for operational parameters (pulse intensity and organic and aqueous phase velocities) and interfacial tension (systems type) were examined using the response surface approach. A novel correlation for the dependent parameter, namely holdup at flooding based on the quadratic model, was developed with the central composition design methodology. A desirable agreement between actual data and calculated data from the proposed model was observed because of the high...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Akbari Jokar, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis studies a multi-commodity, multi-period three layer cross-docking network design problem. It is based on a case study in the automotive industry to optimize the flow of auto-parts from automakers to the production sites. The use of cross-docks as a facility for the aggregation point in the supply chain, allows the rapid separation of goods to be sent to demand nodes. The problem is studied in two phases; the strategic phase for the location-allocation of cross-docks and the tactical phase for the routing of heterogeneous road transportation fleet. A mixed-integer programming formulation is presented for each phase to define the problem. Genetic and harmony search meta-heuristic...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mahsouli, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
Abstract
This research proposes a probabilistic framework for seismic risk analysis of industrial plants of oil infrastructure using reliability methods. The proposed approach integrates multiple probabilistic models and system reliability to quantify the seismic risk of the process plants. A chain of probabilistic seismic hazard and risk models is utilized for the risk analysis. The Monte Carlo sampling method is used to propagate the significant uncertainty in the hazard event, damage to components and its consequences, and the potential losses incurred by process plant. In each sample of the analysis, hazard models simulate the occurrence, magnitude, and rupture area and location of earthquake...

Abstract
Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in human genomes is considered to be highly associated with complex genetic diseases. As a consequence, obtaining all SNPs from human populations is one of the primary goals of recent studies on human genomics. The two sequences of SNPs in diploid human organisms are called haplotypes. In this paper, the problem of haplotype reconstruction from SNP fragments with and without genotype information is studied. Minimum error correction (MEC) is an important model for this problem but only effective when the error rate of the fragments is low. MEC/GI, as an extension to MEC model, employs the related genotype information besides the SNP fragments and,...

Abstract
Earlier, we engineered a wireless power transfer (WPT) system whose key element is a self-activating and self-decoupling transmitting (Tx) antenna called the high-impedance coil (HIC) that grants a high efficiency for a receiving (Rx) antenna with a free position in front of the Tx array. When the Rx antenna is located in front of the Tx one, the input impedance of the last one drastically decreases, which results in efficient power transfer. This impedance is initially so high that the Tx antenna in the absence of the Rx one does not accept power, which implies negligible open-circuit losses. This feature grants the automatic activation/deactivation of the WT system. In the present work, we...
