Abstract
Polymer blending has an important role in preparation of materials with suitable properties without synthesizing new polymers. One of these blends is polypropylene (PP)/ polyethylene (PE). PE is added for improving the impact strength and toughness of PP. For improvementof the properties, a compatibilizer is used due to incompatibility of the PP/PE blend. Improving the impact properties is usually related to the reduction in stiffness. Exceptional mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) such as high elastic modulus, stiffness and tensile strength have made them as promising reinforcement in polymer nanocomposite systems. Abstract
Microstructures and hardness of aluminum alloy ductile iron were investigated by SEM, XRD, EPMA and hardness measurement techniques. The results show, increasing the Al-alloying element leads to decrease of free ferrite and carbide, as well as increase in the pearlite volume fraction. It is also has been found that in the higher values of Al, about 85% of the matrix would be pearlite. It is indicated that an increase in the aluminum content also leads to a decrease in the spacing between pearlite layers. Abstract
A temperature-induced degenerate p-type graphene nanopore/reduced graphene oxide (GNP/rGO) heterojunction-based nanodevice was prepared and studied for the first time, showing a robust negative differential resistance (NDR) feature. In this regard, cellulose-based perforated graphene foams (PGFs), containing numerous nanopores (with an average size of ∼2 nm surrounded by nearly six-layer rGO walls) were synthesized using bagasse as a green starting material. The PGFs with an essential p-type semiconducting property showed a band gap energy of ∼1.8 eV. Abstract
The effect of aluminium content on the formation mechanism, volume fraction, morphology, and particle size distribution of graphite has been investigated. Addition of aluminium to ductile iron causes some fundamental changes in iron-carbon phase diagrams and, as a result, improves graphite formation during eutectic transformation. Results reveal that aluminium compounds have been formed in the core of graphite nodules; thus aluminium plays an important role in the formation of graphite nodules. The exact symbol and bit error probabilities of linearly modulated signals in frequency non-selective Rician fading channels with Lth diversity branches are derived, where coherent detection with maximum ratio combining (MRC) is used at the receiver. Abstract
In this study, the effect of carboxyl-terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile liquid rubber on fracture toughness of glass-reinforced epoxy composites has been investigated. Fracture toughness tests were conducted in modes I, II and different mixed mode ratios. The data obtained from these tests have been analyzed by using different methods. Results indicated that interlaminar fracture toughness of composite specimens improved considerably through addition of carboxyl-terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile in modes I, II and mixed mode. The structural characteristic (e.g. defect type and density) and working temperature have a significant effect on the natural frequency of CNT-based sensors. Celery residue modified with H2SO4 was utilized as a low-cost adsorbent for elimination of methylene blue cationic dye from aqueous solution in batch adsorption process. The adsorbent was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). This study introduces a new and bio-friendly adsorbent based on natural and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) modified adsorbent, celery (Apium graveolens) residue for removal of organic pollutants.
