    Abstract
In this paper a new least mean square (LMS) based adaptive weighting algorithm is proposed. It is appropriate for antenna array systems with moving targets and mobile applications. The essential goal of this algorithm is to reduce the complexity of weighting process and to decrease the time needed for adjusting the antenna radiation pattern. The main lobe of antenna will be adjusted in the direction of desired signal (main signal) and nulls pointed in the direction of undesired signals (interference signals). By predicting the relative velocity of source, the next location of the source will be estimated and the array weights will be determined using LMS algorithm before arriving to the new...

    Abstract
Reducing the computational complexity as well as convergence time is the main task of adaptive antenna array processing. This article proposes an improved algorithm for estimating the weights of adaptive array elements based on Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA). In this new type of algorithm, those weights that have higher effect on the radiation pattern will be estimated and antenna pattern will be adjusted by changing these weights. In this research, 3 new algorithms are proposed. By simulating these algorithms and comparing them with conventional full weight CMA, finally new algorithm that has a reduced complexity and an acceptable performance at different signal to noise ratios (SNRs) is...

Cross-layer rateless coding over wireless relay channel

    , Article 2010 5th International Symposium on Telecommunications, IST 2010 ; 2010 , Pages 351-355 ; 9781424481835 (ISBN) Shirvani Moghaddam, M ; Hossein Khalaj, B ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This paper focuses on cross-layer transmission based on rateless coding for relay channels. In the proposed method, rateless coding is used at packet level and a separate physical layer coding is used at the physical layer. As rateless codes are originally designed and optimized for erasure channels, using these codes at the physical layer can lead to significant performance degradation. The proposed scheme has the advantage of a cross-layer design which uses a rateless code at the packet level modeled by an erasure channel. Based on the analysis and simulation results provided in this paper, there is an exact tradeoff between physical layer code rate and rateless code depth, and the optimum...

Evaluation of Rateless Coding on Relay Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shirvani Moghaddam, Mahyar (Author) ; Hossein Khalaj, Babak (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Fountain codes enable wireless networks to adapt their transmission rates to the state of the channels, without the need for channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters. According to the following properties of rateless codes, ever increasing parity generation, mutual information receiver, single bit feedback, and information combining receiver, they are good choice for relay networks. In this research, the design of rateless codes for wireless relay networks has been studied. Cross layer issues should be seriously considered when using rateless codes in the packet level. One cross-layer scheme has been developed in this thesis and analysis show that the performance of the proposed...

    Abstract
In this article, a novel cooperative secondary voltage/frequency control considering time-varying delays and noises in fading channels is presented for an autonomous alternating current (AC) voltage sourced-based converter (VSC)-based microgrid (MG), including inverter-interfaced distributed generations (DGs). Fading phenomenon makes complex random fluctuations on the voltage and frequency of every DG received from its neighbor DGs. In multi-agent cooperative systems, in addition to the total additive noise and time-variant delay, a multiplicative complex random variable is considered to model the main received signal and its replicas due to multipath propagation. The proposed...

Statistical Analysis of Parameter Fluctuation on Performance of Giga Scale Integration

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Asghari Shirvani, Rouzbeh (Author) ; Sarvari, Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Developing to the sub-micron dimentions reduces the size of integrated circuits, so interconnects and a variations in their characteristics has more effects on circuit performance. Worst case study is the most common method in these systems, but in many cases interconnect lines are independent from eachother. Analysis state that worst case is out of the distribution in many cases (with zero possibility) and result in a pessimistic design. Statistical analysis should replace worst case analysis in multi varient systems. In this titile, statistical analysis will be used to investigate performance of interconnects in new technology. Maximum variation in interconnect parameters are considered...

Synthesis and Characterization of Electrospun N/S Doped ZnO and Investigation of their Applications in Dye Degradation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shirvani Shiri, Tayyebe (Author) ; Poujavadi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, the synthesis of the electrospum nano fiber doped zinc oxide and its photocatalyst usage was investigated. The band gap of the zinc oxide in the area of UV leads to deactivation of this material at the visible light. With due the attention to sunny weather in Iran and the fact that about 50 percentage of sunlight is visible light, producing and usage of catalyst materials actived at visible light is economical. Doping is one of the ways of activating ZnO at visible light, so in this research thiourea is used as the source of ZnO doping. The results of the expriments done at visible light and also spectrums of DRS, XPS and XRD prove that the doping is happened. Also, in this...

On optimal dynamic pegging in rescheduling for new order arrival

    , Article Computers and Industrial Engineering ; Volume 136 , 2019 , Pages 46-56 ; 03608352 (ISSN) Moghaddam, S. K ; Saitou, K ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2019
    Abstract
A rescheduling method for new order arrival is presented based on the concept of dynamic pegging in multi-level production. Upon the arrival of new, unplanned orders, dynamic pegging enables the re-assignment of the Work-In-Progress (WIP) to the existing or newly arrived orders in such a way that the cost of rescheduling is minimized. A simple yet inspiring Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model is proposed that combines dynamic pegging with rescheduling. The resulting schedules are compared with the ones obtained from two other basic rescheduling approaches. Analysis of the comparisons confirm the superiority of the proposed method in terms of total rescheduling costs. © 2019

    Abstract
This paper presents a new predictive-reactive rescheduling method for adjusting production schedules in response to the unplanned arrival of new orders in multi-level production. It is based on the concept of dynamic pegging, which enables the reassignment of the Work-In-Progress (WIP) to the existing or newly arrived orders at the time of rescheduling. Extending our previous work on reactive rescheduling with dynamic pegging, the new approach incorporates a probabilistic predictive model of new order arrival in the initial scheduling at the begging of the scheduling horizon. A Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model is developed for two-phase, predictive-reactive scheduling before and after...

    Abstract
In this paper a new predictive-reactive rescheduling method is presented based on the dynamic pegging concept. Scheduling adjustments in a multi-level, mixed-model production system are invoked in response to the unplanned events, such as new order arrival, changes in due dates, and order cancellation. By using the dynamic pegging approach at the time of rescheduling, Work-In-Progress (WIP) can be reassigned to the existing or new orders. Based on our previous work on reactive-only rescheduling with dynamic pegging, a Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model is developed for predictive-reactive scheduling of new orders of different product types that arrive following exponential distribution. A...

Performance evaluation and improvement of PC-SAFT equation of state for the asphaltene precipitation modeling during mixing with various fluid types

    Abstract
One of the significant problems of the upstream flow assurance community is precipitation or deposition of asphaltene that leads to affect the economics of oil production seriously. Knowledge of asphaltene onset pressure (AOP) and amount of asphaltene precipitation in the change of temperature, pressure, and composition is the essential information for preventing this problem. Recent studies have shown that thermodynamic models based on the solubility nature of asphaltenes using an equation of state (EOS) are the most effective approach to asphaltene behavior modeling. In this research, the common version of the SAFT equation, known as the Perturbed Chain form of Statistical Association...

    Abstract
Strengthening is often a necessary measure to overcome an unsatisfactory deficient situation or where a new code requires the structure or a member of it to be modified to achieve new requirements. In the engineering practice such restraint to lateral dilation, indicated by the name of confinement, has been traditionally provided to compression members through steel transverse reinforcement in the form of spirals, circular hoops or rectangular ties. Steel and concrete jackets are other techniques for providing additional confinement for compression members, too. This paper presents the results of experimental and analytical study on the application of strapping technique for retrofitting of...

    2009
    Abstract
In order to restrain ferroresonance in coupling capacitor voltage transformers (CCVT), two kinds of ferroresonance suppression circuits (FSCs) , are proposed in this paper: the resonant type, the fastsaturation reactor type which are connected to secondary side of CCVTs. Frequency domain analyses, for voltage ratio magnitude, are carried out for CCVTs to obtain preferable FSC. Furthermore, using surge suppressors such as metal oxide varistors (MOV) to improve the performance of the FSCs is investigated. Time domain simulations demonstrate that ferroresonance can be cleared in few cycles in presence of FSCs. The Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) is used for modeling and fine-tuning...

    Abstract
A new heterogeneous and highly dispersive nanocatalyst in water was prepared by the immobilization of Cu2+ onto glucose on Fe3O4. The catalyst was fully characterized by FT-IR, TGA, CHN, SEM, EDX, and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The synthesized catalyst was used in the synthesis of different derivatives of 1,2,3-triazole via a one-pot three-component reaction of alkynes, alkyl halides, and sodium azide. To the best of our knowledge, this novel catalyst adheres to the principles of green chemistry. The nanocatalyst could be recycled and reused in several runs without significant loss of activity
