Road Network Expansion Based on Toll Sensitive to Construction Cost and Type of Users in Elastic Demand
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Poorzahedy, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
Road network expansion is a well known problem in the world, particularly in developing countries. One approach in financing this development is to charge the users for the services rendered. Recent studies prove the merits of private sector participation in road investment and revenue collection. Public sector may cooprate with private sector in permitting it to build the roads, operate and maintain them for certain period of time, while taking advantage of the revenues collected. The road will, then, be transferred to the public sector when that period of time is over. This study presents an extension to a previous model in this area. It presents a bi-level programming network design...
Detecting Speakers in a Telephone Conversation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Sameti, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
The human speech signal conveys many levels of information ranging from phonetic content to speaker identity and even emotional status. This thesis deals with the task of open-set speaker identification (SI) from an unconstrained telephone conversation between two speakers. The goal is to find at most two speakers among a known set of target speakers that best match the voice samples of the input speech; the input voice samples are not constrained to the target speaker set. The uni-speaker problem is investigated first. The classic GMM-UBM system for text-independent SI and its adapted form are explored. The use of score-space information is advocated as a complementary source to the...
Numerical Analysis of a Plate Containing Multiple Circular Holes Via RKPM
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammdi Shodja, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, some new models have been solved via RKPM method, which is one of the meshfree methods family. These models have never been solved via meshfree methods and their analytical solutions do not exist. At first, the RKPM shape functions and their first derivative formulation in 1D and 2D have been presented and then by using FORTRAN program, the shape functions and their first derivative have been obtained. To verifying the code some functions have been reproduced. In the next step by using the governing equations and penalty method whose formulation exists in chapter 2; some famous examples in linear elasticity have been solved via RKPM to verify the FORTRAN code. At last; some...

Abstract
The success of oil recovery depends, among other factors, on the ability to provide reliable simulations of the reservoir performance. The reservoir dynamics are usually modeled by a distributed parameter dynamic system whose parameters represent the petrophysical properties of the reservoir. A proper characterization of those reservoir properties is fundamental for an accurate reservoir simulation. The petrophysical properties are highly heterogeneous and only a limited number of measurements are available at certain locations in the reservoir. Therefor, in ordet to obtain accurate prediction of the reservoir performance, it is essential to possess reliable estimates of the petrophysical...

Abstract
The giant Kerr nonlinearity with reduced linear and nonlinear absorption in a four-level quantum dot by employing the tunnel coupling is investigated. It is shown that by enhancement of tunnel coupling value the Kerr nonlinearity increases and at the same time linear and nonlinear absorption reduces at the long wavelength which is very important for communicational applications. Enhanced of Kerr nonlinearity in a double quantum dots is investigated. It is found that the electron tunneling has an essential role to reducing the linear absorption and increasing the Kerr nonlinearity at long wavelength

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor) ; Jafari Siavoshani, Mahdi (Supervisor)
Abstract
We live in the cyber era in which network-based technologies have become omnipresent. Meanwhile, threats and attacks are rapidly growing in cyberspace. Nowadays, some signature-based intrusion detection systems try to detect these malicious traffics. However, as new vulnerabilities and new zero-day attacks appear, there is a growing risk of bypassing the current intrusion detection systems. Many research studies have worked on machine learning algorithms for intrusion detection applications. Their major weakness is to consider the different aspects of network security concurrently. For example, continuous concept drift in normal and abnormal traffic, the permanent appearance of zero-day...
Microstructural Evolution During Post-Bond Heat Treatment of Brazed Nickel Base Super Alloys
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Pouranvari, Majid (Supervisor) ; Kokabi, Amir Hossein (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
The brazing process is the preferred method for bonding and repairing high temperature resistant superalloys. In this process, filler metals containing MPD elements such as B and Si are used. The presence of these elements causes the formation of brittle and eutectic phases such as borides and silicides in the joint area. These phases reduce the mechanical properties and re-melting temperature of the joint. By increasing the temperature and time of bonding and using the concept of isothermal solidification, the formation of boride and silicide phases can be prevented. In wide gap joints, the time to complete the isothermal solidification is very long, and applying such temperature and time...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Akbari, Javad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Nowadays, microgyroscopes are among the most important products of MEMS. The production of small, precise and inexpensive gyroscopes has become possible as the result of recent developments in fabrication technology. In this thesis it is intended to introduce a new method for manufacturing more precise microgyroscopes regarding manufacture facilities. Using this new method, sensitivity and resistance of microgyroscopes are increased against noises which are primarily caused by vibration and rotation about undesirable axes. The rotational movement imposed on the gyro is detected through fluid flow within its torus channel. This transformation facilitates the measurement of the initial motion....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Jalili, Rasool (Supervisor)
Abstract
In recent two decades, different anonymous communication systems has been proposed. These systems are interested by journalists, bank employees, military forces, and human rights advocates. Tor is one of the most popular anonymous communication systems. Tor uses onion routing for privacy preserving. Re-cently, many attacks has been introduced against the anonymity of Tor users. In these attacks entry and exit nodes are compromised. One of these malicious nodes, makes the attack on the intented flow and the other one recognizes the flow. All these attacks admit their vulnerability against dummy messages. They state that, because of dynamics of onion’s keys, any dummy injection will dis-turb...

Abstract
The deployment of multi-agent systems in presence of obstacle deals with autonomous motion of agents toward a specified target by sensing each other and boundaries of obstacles. In this paper, asynchronous, scalable, distributed algorithm is used to deploy agents. Boundaries of obstacles are modeled by virtual agents. Algorithm was implemented by solving continuous n-median problem called generalized Fermat-Weber problem. It is shown that deployment is performed when position of real agents are the geometric median of their Voronoi cells. Simulation results show the validity of the proposed algorithm very well

Abstract
Massive MIMO systems are systems, where the base station has many number of antenna so each user’s channel is orthogonal to one another. These systems have some valuable advantages such as reduction of energy needed for transmission and significant improvement in spectral efficiency, which makes them be suitable for next generation of wireless communication systems. Another advantage of Massive MIMO systems is inherent resistance against passive eavsdroppers due to having a directed power radiation in direction of the desired user. However another physical layer attack threat these systems: attacking in pilot phase then eavsdropping in downlink phase which must taken care of in physical...
