An Abstract Model for Perso-Arabic Typography
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Tabesh, Yahya (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this research, we provide an abstract model for the typography of Persian language (Perso-Arabic script) and study two text corpora based on the Unicode properties of characters and this model. Then we search the corpora for phrases with special properties, based on the abstract model
Implementation and Comparison of Some Optimization Methods from the Perspective of Machine Learning
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mahdavi Amiri, Nezamoddin (Supervisor)
Abstract
Machine learning is advancing remarkably, bringing profound theoretical insights and finding applications in various fields. Optimization is a crucial area in machine learning, attracting the attention of many researchers. As the volume of data increases and models become more complex, the challenges faced by optimization methods are becoming more diverse and complicated. Continuous efforts are being made to overcome these challenges through new solutions and improvements to existing methods. Understanding and summarizing these optimization methods from a machine learning perspective is beneficial and essential, leading to further advancements in both fields. Here, based on the collected...

Abstract
In a coherent pulse Doppler radar, ambiguity can occur in both range and radial velocity measurements. PRF staggering has been considered as one of the most effective ways by which these consequential blind speeds can be eliminated. As it stands the optimization of such staggering has not been convincingly provided in a clear format in past studies. In this article previously reported techniques have been studied and also a comprehensive simulation tool which provides interesting results based on different techniques is developed. Furthermore a comparison of various common staggering methods has been given and a cost function has been proposed to describe a figure of merit for each of the...
A Trip-Chain Based Traffic Assignment Model of Electric Vehicles
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Zokaei Aashtiani, Hedayat (Supervisor)
Abstract
The goal of this research is to solve the traffic assignment of electric vehicles with considering trip chains. Limited driving range of electric vehicles is considered as one the most important obstacles for the development of these cars. The worry that the battery will run out of power before the destination is an important issue regarding the electric cars and people usually experience it more in trip chains. In this research, a complementary model and a linearization method is used for traffic assignment. In determining shortest paths in the traffic assignment, in addition to considering the travel time and the distance limit, the constraint of passing through activity nodes is...
Rural telecommunications in Iran: A hybrid solution
, Article 1st International Conference on Internet Technologies and Applications, ITA 05, Wrexham, 7 September 2005 through 9 September 2005 ; 2005 , Pages 530-540 ; 0946881324 (ISBN); 9780946881321 (ISBN) ; Arbabian, M. A ; Javaheri, H ; Jalali, A ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
The necessity of the development of ICT in rural areas has become a major issue in the developing countries for some time now. Iran, one of the participants of this movement, plans to take some significant short-term steps in this field, steps which will revolve the situation of it's rural ICT extensively. One of the main related issues in Iran is the large number of geographical situations present in rural parts demanding distinct telecommunication solutions. Having studied thoroughly the current situation of rural telecommunication in Iran and also the available and the newly introduced technical solutions, in this article we propose a complete telecommunication plan for rural Iran that...
Electronic structure and morphological study of BaTiO 3 film grown by pulsed-laser deposition
, Article Materials Letters ; Volume 72 , April , 2012 , Pages 107-109 ; 0167577X (ISSN) ; Mahdavi, S. M ; Nemati, A ; Tabesh, M ; Ranjbar, M ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
The morphological characteristics and electronic structure of the BaTiO 3 films grown by pulsed-laser deposition technique have been investigated. AFM and FE-SEM images reveal columnar growth characteristic of these films. Utilizing spectrophotometer, optical band gap of the films were reckoned to be about 3.76 eV. Both dα/dE and PL vs. E plots reveal numerous luminance states in the gap. Despite the presence of many luminance faults in the gap, cations manage to preserve their electronic states
Simulation of blood oxygenation in capillary membrane oxygenators using modified sulfite solution
, Article Biophysical Chemistry ; Vol. 195, issue , Dec , 2014 , p. 8-15 ; Amoabediny, G ; Rasouli, A ; Ramedani, A ; Poorkhalil, A ; Kashefi, A ; Mottaghy, K ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Blood oxygenation is the main performance characteristic of capillary membrane oxygenators (CMOs). Handling of natural blood in in vitro investigations of CMOs is quite complex and time-consuming. Since the conventional blood analog fluids (e.g. water/glycerol) lack a substance with an affinity to capture oxygen comparable to hemoglobin's affinity, in this study a novel approach using modified sulfite solution is proposed to address this challenge. The solution comprises sodium sulfite as a component, simulating the role of hemoglobin in blood oxygenation. This approach is validated by OTR (oxygen transfer rate) measured using native porcine blood, in two types of commercially available...
