Abstract
Simulation of biophysical neural networks enables the interpretation and integration of fast-growing and different experimental datasets. The widely used NEURON simulator allows molecular-to-network simulation. However, it is still a very hard challenge to create large-scale models and operate parallel simulations applying NEURON. SUNY Downstate developed the NetPyNE means networks using Python and NEURON, which was funded by the New York State Department of Health and some other institutions. Abstract
Background: cervical cancer is one of the most common malignancies in women worldwide and its management remains challenging and complex. As Cytochrome4Z1 (CYP4Z1) is overex-pressed in many tumours, its expression in cervical cancer is unknown. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate CYP4Z1 expression in cervical cancers. Methods: CYP4Z1 expression was immunohistochemically assessed in 100 cases of cervical cancers along with ten normal cervix tissues, and the enzyme’s relationship to several clinicopathological features and survival was explored. Characterizing the electrical resistance of the formation rock is of great importance in, for example, interpreting the well log data, calculating the porosity, and water saturation for the formation rocks. In poorly developed fractured rocks, the contribution of individual fracture on rock conductivity should be considered. However, due to the lack of data, a deterministic approach cannot be used. The conventional way to model discrete fractures is to use a Poisson process, with prescribed distribution, for fracture size and orientation. Purpose: To evaluate the phytochemical profile of methanol extract of Ephedra foeminea and assess its anti-carcer effect on a large set of normal and cancerous cell lines Methods: Extraction of air-dried powder of aerial parts of E. foeminea was carried out with methanol. The bioactive compounds in the extract were determined using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Abstract
Carbide morphologies of white cast iron containing 22% Cr and 10-12% tungsten with different carbon contents (2.34-3.20. wt.%) were investigated. Results indicated that for the as-cast alloys with no heat treatments, the addition of carbon changes the morphology of carbides during air-cooling in the presence of tungsten. Light microscopy analysis revealed that for an alloy with 2.3. wt% carbon, chromium carbides possess coarse gray appearance (GA). Increasing the carbon content reduced the coarse GA zones volume fraction while a finer GA zones emerged. This paper proposes an N-modular redundancy (NMR) technique with low energy-overhead for hard real-time multi-core systems. NMR is well-suited for multi-core platforms as they provide multiple processing units and low-overhead communication for voting. However, it can impose considerable energy overhead and hence its energy overhead must be controlled, which is the primary consideration of this paper.
