Abstract
Event extraction is one of the important tasks in Natural Language Processing (NLP). Many NLP applications like question answering, information extraction and summarization need to have some knowledge about events of input documents. There are several definitions for events in NLP domains. In this dissertation, the event is viewed as an element in a network of temporal information. Therefore, the project has been based on the ISO-TimeML specification language, which is the standard scheme for temporal information processing in natural texts. Event extraction based on ISO-TimeML has been performed for a number of languages including English, French, Spanish, and Korean. However, for Persian...

Abstract
Recognizing TimeML events and identifying their attributes, are important tasks in natural language processing (NLP). Several NLP applications like question answering, information retrieval, summarization, and temporal information extraction need to have some knowledge about events of the input documents. Existing methods developed for this task are restricted to limited number of languages, and for many other languages including Persian, there has not been any effort yet. In this paper, we introduce two different approaches for automatic event recognition and classification in Persian. For this purpose, a corpus of events has been built based on a specific version of ISO-TimeML for Persian....

Abstract
This paper introduces the first pattern-based Persian Temporal Relation Classifier (PTRC) that finds the type of temporal relations between pairs of events in the Persian texts. The proposed system uses support vector machines (SVMs) equipped by combinations of simple, convolution tree, and string subsequence kernels (SSK). In order to evaluate the algorithm, we have developed a Persian TimeBank (PTB) corpus. PTRC not only increases the performance of the classification by applying new features and SSK, but also alleviates the probable adverse effects of the Free Word Orderness (FWO) of Persian on temporal relation classification. We have also applied our proposed algorithm to two standard...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Saboohi, Yadollah (Supervisor)
Abstract
As producing and consuming of natural gas has increased in recent years, improving natural gas distribution and transfer network systems has become vital. Pressure reduction station (PRS) is an important part of the natural gas network. Common PRSs are facing two issues: first is the pressure reduction technology, which is throttling valve that destroys the exergy of the high pressure flow. The solution is to utilize turbo-expander instead which can recover the energy. Second is the preheating technology which is boiler and water bath heater in the common systems that cause environmental problems. Using solar collectors is one of the best solution based on the literature. Since the solar...
