    Application of fractional derivative in control problems such as sliding surface design in Sliding Mode Control, training of MLP in neural networks, and parameters updating in Model Reference Adaptive Control is studied in this paper. Use of the fractional derivative increases possibility of improving the control performance by reducing the convergence time in the mentioned control problems. This gain is attained due to the higher degree of freedom exist in the fractional dynamical systems.     Abstract
    In the first section of this research, we have developed a simple and rapid colorimetric method for determination of tizanidine using citrate capped gold nanoparticles. Under optimal conditions, the AuNPs easily aggregate upon addition of tizanidine and the solution color changes from red to gray. This color change was followed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The detection limit was calculated to be 0.48 µM. The method was successfully applied for determination of tizanidine in Spalex© tablets.     In the communication problem UR (universal relation), Alice and Bob respectively receive x, y {0,1}^n with the promise that xy. The last player to receive a message must output an index i such that x-iy-i. We prove that the randomized one-way communication complexity of this problem in the public coin model is exactly Θ(min{n,log(1/Δ)log^2(rac n{log(1/Δ)})}) for failure probability Δ. Our lower bound holds even if promised mathop{support}(y)mathop{support}(x).     Iron corrosion in acidic media is a natural phenomenon that converts elemental iron to a more chemically-stable form, i.e. its oxide and hydroxide. In this study, the iron corrosion process is modeled as a completely implicit problem, solved by a novel finite difference model to provide insight into the ionic aspects of corrosion behavior. This new mathematical model eliminates the chemical potential parameters from the corrosion process equations, thereby reducing the need for experimental determination of chemical potentials. This project describes a data-driven method for identifying the direction of propagation of disturbances using historical process data.
