Leakage in embankment dam by applying seepage and thermal numerical simulations are studied in this paper. Unpredicted seepage in earthen dams is known as the main cause of damage in most cases. Determination of seepage flow quantity and prediction of dam leakage is very important. Temperature variation in dam body can be simulated to estimate the water velocity in soil layers. Purpose: Does the long-term growth rate of a firm increase by exporting? If yes, how large is that increase in a developing economy? The paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach: The authors incorporate data from the manufacturing plants in Iran as a developing economy for 2003–2011 to address this question. Using fixed effect panel and propensity score matching method, the authors examine whether exportation can affect a firm’s growth rate to test for the learning to grow hypothesis. The UiO-66 NH2 and ZIF-8 metal organic framework nanoparticles (NMOFs) were incorporated into the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofibrous membrane. Then, the chitosan nanofibers were coated on the PVDF nanofibers to produce the PVDF/chitosan nanofibers. A new method for forecasting the trend of time series, based on mixture of MLP experts, is presented. In this paper, three neural network combining methods and an Adaptive Network-Based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) are applied to trend forecasting in the Tehran stock exchange. This article is focused on a simple approach for determining the natural frequency and mode shape of laminated angle-ply plates with various shapes by rectangular orthotropy. Feature coding has received great attention in recent years as a building block of many image processing algorithms. In particular, the importance of the locality assumption in coding approaches has been studied in many previous works. We review this assumption and claim that using the similarity of data points to a more global set of anchor points does not necessarily weaken the coding method, as long as the underlying structure of the anchor points is considered. Abstract
In this study, a noble robust superhydrophobic and highly oleophobic polyurethane (PU)–SiO2 nanoparticle (NP) coating is specially designed using sol-gel process. For this purpose the effective parameters on surface tension and durability of the synthesized coating investigated and optimized. This new superhydrophobic and highly oleophobic coating exhibits good pensile hardness as high as 6H with adhesive force grade of 5B and repels water and oil with contact angles (CAs) of 159° and 140° respectively. Herein, a novel Pt-APA composite (APA = pyridinium bromide salt) based on magnetic graphene oxide was synthesized and used as an effective catalyst. In this paper, we report our evaluation of the strength of random number generator and RSA key-pair generator of some commercially available constrained hardware modules, i.e., tokens and smart cards. That was motivated after recent related attacks to RSA public keys, which are generated by constrained network devices and smart cards, and turned out to be insecure due to low-quality randomness. Those attacks are mostly computing pair-wise GCD between the moduli in public keys, and resulted in breaking several thousands of these keys. Abstract
Prediction of shear plane angle is a way for prediction of the mechanism of chip formation, machining forces and so on. In this study, Merchant and Lee-Shaffer theories are used to predict the shear plane angles and cutting forces in machining of Al/SiC p MMC. The experimental cutting forces are compared with the calculated cutting force based on shear plane angles extracted from Merchant and Lee-Shaffer theories. The variation of these cutting forces with cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut has been discussed. The main purpose of this study is to compare the many different rock properties in the rock sawability. The comparison was realized with the combination of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and Fuzzy Delphi method and also TOPSIS method. The analysis is one of the multi-criteria techniques providing useful support in selecting among several alternatives with different objectives and criteria.
