The simple-shear condition is closer to reality than the direct-shear condition for simulating the mechanical behavior of vegetated soil slope under shallow failure. The thickness of shallow landslides is generally less than 2 m, which is of the same order of magnitude as the growth range of vegetation roots. Vegetation roots can improve the stability of shallow soil through mechanical and hydraulic effects. Therefore, the landslide process is closely related to the plant roots growing on the slope surface. The aeroelastic flutter characteristics of a functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) truncated conical shell under simultaneous actions of a hydrostatic pressure and yawed supersonic airflow are scrutinized. We analyse optimal pricing for a retailer that sells two products using a mixed price bundling strategy. We consider substitutable products, where there is a disutility associated with jointly consuming both products. Mixed price bundling implies that customers can freely choose to buy one of the two products, both of them, or neither of them. The retailer determines the price of each product when it is sold separately, the bundle discount if these two products are sold in a bundle, and the inventory levels for each product. Controlling networked structures has many applications in science and engineering. In this paper, we consider the problem of pinning control (pinning the dynamics into the reference state), and optimally placing the driver nodes, i.e., the nodes to which the control signal is fed. Considering the local controllability concept, a metric based on the eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix is taken into account as a measure of controllability. In this work the heat transfer characteristics of pressure driven and electroosmotic flow through microchannels have been studied. Abstract
Based on MRI diffusion and perfusion, a new criterion for detection and the healing progress of damaged tissue is suggested. The study is based on the ratio of capillary radii in symmetrical damaged and normal tissue neighboring spaces. The Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) and Cerebral Blood Flow (CBF) were measured in the brain tissues of six male Wistar rats utilizing suggested MRI measurement techniques. The ADC values of damaged and normal regions were (392 ± 34.1) × 10-6 mm2s-1 and (659 ± 40.7) × 10-6 mm2s-1, respectively. In this paper we introduce a novel population-based binary optimization technique, which works based on consensus of interacting multi-agent systems. The agents, each associated with an opinion vector, are connected through a network. They can influence each other, and thus their opinions can be updated. The agents work collectively with their neighbors to solve an optimization task. Here we consider a specific opinion update rule and various topologies for the connection network. Cellulose nanowhiskers (CNWs) prepared via TEMPO mediated oxidation are used as biodegradable filler in an epoxy matrix. Since CNWs are hydrophilic and epoxy is hydrophobic, amphiphilic block copolymer surfactants are employed to improve the interactions between the filler and the matrix. Nanostructured Ag@SiO2-Penicillin was synthesized from high-purity Ag0 NPs with a mean particle size of about 10 nm produced by electromagnetic levitation gas condensation (ELGC) method. The silver and penicillin contents of the synthesized nano-antibiotic were about 34 wt% and 2.5 wt% respectively, as determined by ICP-OES and TGA analyses.
