Repairing of Damaged Metallic Pressure Pipe Using Polymer-Based Composites

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kaveh Pisheh, Mahsa (Author) ; Abedian, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to well mechanical properties and high resistance to environmental conditions, metal pipes are used to transport oil and gas products, water and sewage, as well as hydraulic systems in aircraft or aerospace systems. Therefore, maintenance of oil and gas transmission lines in energy-related industries and pressurized tanks in the aviation industry has always been a concern of engineers. Due to the problems of old methods for repairing damaged pipelines or aerial structures, it seems necessary to provide new, safe and cheap methods for repairing them. Various engineering standards for pipelines and their repairs have been presented so far which have analytical solutions to determine the...

Does the short-term boost of renewable energies guarantee their stable long-term growth? Assessment of the dynamics of feed-in tariff policy

    , Article Renewable Energy ; Volume 159 , October , 2020 , Pages 1252-1268 Milad Mousavian, H ; Hamed Shakouri, G ; Mashayekhi, A. N ; Kazemi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Feed-in tariff (FiT) is one of the most efficient ways that many governments throughout the world use to stimulate investment in renewable energies (REs) technology. For governments, financial management of the policy could be challenging as it needs a considerable amount of budget to support RE producers during the long remuneration period. In this paper, it has been illuminated that the early growth of REs capacity could be a temporary boost. And the socio-economic structure of the system will backlash the policy if some social mechanisms are not considered. Social tolerance for paying REs tax and potential investors’ trust emanated from budget-related mechanisms -which have rarely been...

Investigation of Non-fourier Heat Transfer Model During Laser Irradiation in Teeth

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zera'at Pisheh, Milad (Author) ; Nuri Boroujerdi, Ali (Supervisor) ; Arjmand, Navid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the present study, the thermal behavior of human teeth during laser radiation has been discussed. The high laser power, as well as its low emission, can allow deviations from the Fourier heat transfer model. To overcome this problem, the non- Fourier heat transfer method, dual phase lagged (DPL), has been used. Wisdom considered in this study to evaluate the thermal behavior of tooth. Using the finite volume method, the DPL equations are solved and the thermal response of the teeth is obtained during laser irradiation. The effect of delay times, which are the parameters of the DPL model and depart from the Fourier model, is fully demonstrated on the temperature behavior of the tooth, and...

    Abstract
A novel method based on EEG nonlinear analysis and analysis of steady-state visual evoked potentials (SSVEPs) has been processed. The EEG phase space is reconstructed, and some new geometrical features are extracted. Statistical analysis is carried out based on ANOVA, and most significant features are selected and then fed into a multi-class support vector machine (MSVM). Both offline and online phases are considered to fully address SSVEP detection. In the offline mode, the whole design evaluation, feature selection, and classifier training are performed. In the online scenario, the proposed method is evaluated and the detection rate is reported for both phases. Subject-dependent and...

    Abstract
A high intensity laser incident on a vacuum-plasma interface, insert an Intensive electromagnetic force on electrons and charged particles. Relativistic charged particle movements lead to the high order harmonics generation of the incident wave. Efficiency of high harmonics increases with the intensity laser incident, So that the non-relativistic velocities of the particles vary to the relativistic velocities. Efficiency of high harmonics increases with the intensity laser incident. In previous works that has done in this field the researcher have reported-odd harmonics generated in direction of propagation of laser incident and even harmonics generated in normal direction of propagation of...

    Abstract
A high intensity laser normal incident (1020 W/cm2) on a vacuum-plasma interface produces high harmonics in reflected components. Efficiency of high harmonics increases with the intensity laser incident. So the non-relativistic velocities of the particles vary to the relativistic velocities. Consequently, electrons in such high fields are predicted to quiver nonlinearly, moving in figure eight patterns, rather than in straight lines, and thus to radiate photons at harmonics of the frequency of the incident laser light. To meet the challenge of high power, short wavelength coherent radiation generation, it is quite to investigate the conditions under which harmonics generation efficiency can...

    Abstract
Measurements of the jet energy calibration and transverse momentum resolution in CMS are presented, performed with a data sample collected in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36pb-1. The transverse momentum balance in dijet and γ/Z+jets events is used to measure the jet energy response in the CMS detector, as well as the transverse momentum resolution. The results are presented for three different methods to reconstruct jets: a calorimeter-based approach, the "Jet-Plus-Track" approach, which improves the measurement of calorimeter jets by exploiting the associated tracks, and the "Particle Flow" approach, which attempts...
