Abstract
Cellular automata is a model for physical systems that has homogenous and simple components. Simple components, which are called cells, have local interactions creating complicated global emergent of behaviour. In the field of cellular automata, there are two basic problems: forward and inverse problems. Characterizations of cellular automata rule are studied in forward problem, but in inverse problem, there exists a description of cellular automata and we should find a rule or a set of rules that satisfy the given description. This problem belongs to the class of NP problems and hence heuristic algorithms such as evolutionary algorithms have been used for solving it. Since rules space and...
"Aircraft Performance Enhancement via Mass Distribution Management"
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Malaek, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
This work describes a methodology to enhance aircraft performance via proper mass distribution management. The methodology aims to limit aircraft configuration in early stages of the design process to its desired performance. Mass Distribution Management (MDM), that is used in this work, is a new mathematical model which predicts the so-called aircraft Handling Qualities (HQ) via proper positioning of aircraft mass. This work shows how proper changes in B-747-100 fuel tanks arrangement can enhance its flight quality up to level one during its entire cruise flight without use of any stability augmentation systems. In general this work introduce a methodology to examine different fuel tanks...

Abstract
In past decades, many attempts have been made to use water-soluble polymers as a mobility control agent to improve sweep efficiency of enhanced oil recovery processes. However, sensitivity of the thickening behavior of these polymers to some harsh conditions, such as high salinity, has cast serious doubt on their applicability in reservoir conditions. By expansion of nanotechnology, scientists discovered that nanoparticles can be utilized as thickening and rheology control agents in many polymer solutions. In this study, hydrophilic fumed silica is added to hydrolyzed polyacrylamide and sulfonated polyacrylamide solutions. The effect of the addition of nano silica on the thickening and...
