Approximate Transportation Network Reliability Measures for Solving Transportation Network Improvement Problem
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Poorzahedy, Hossain (Supervisor)
Abstract
Long-term effects of natural disasters, like earthquakes, in many cases have been reported high on transportation networks. Disruption in this lifeline network's performance imposes high social and economic costs upon the society. Undoubtedly, retrofitting the structures of all network links (or constructing new links) are practically impossible and economically infeasible. One solution to this problem is finding a method for determining the network's important links, and retrofitting their structures. Based on this concept, an optimization problem of network performance improvement under these stochastic events is introduced. In this problem, a link importance index for network links is...
The Influence of Metaphysic in Physical Science
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Golshani, Mehdi (Supervisor)
Abstract
The influences of metaphysics in physical science in contemporary philosophy of science have the main place. In this article we consideration the scientific experiment and model for understanding of metaphysic influence .we answer the epistemological and metaphysical question about scientific experiment. We notice in the approximation in the scientific experiment and modeling. In this line we inference the exponential radiation law and consider approximation in this inference and conclude that from approximation, metaphysics of individual scientist influence in the future of physical sciences. We consider the role of model in scientific explanation and with this study we understand that...
Numerical Modeling of Electroosmotic Flow of Viscoelastic Fluids in Hydrophobic Microducts
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Saeedi, Mohammad Hassan (Supervisor) ; Kazemzadeh Hannani, Siamak (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
The integrated development of small-scale electronic and mechanical systems has drawn attention, since they lead to increase in speed and decrease in volume of industry dimensions in the manufacturing sector. That is why microelectromechanical systems are highly considered. MEMS are widely used in Microfluidic systems that can be used in medicine, biology and drug injection. Due to the fact that consistent fluid velocity is necessary in biological applications, electroosmotic flow is more important than ever. To investigate the behavior of biofluids, Newtonian models cannot be used and it is required to use models that predict the behavior of these fluids accurately. In this research...
