Cancer Detection Classification by cfDNA Methylation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ezzati, Saeedeh (Author) ; Sharifi Zarchi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Traditional techniques use invasive histology techniques to diagnose cancer. Cancer tissue is sampled directly in this method, which is very painful for the patient. In recent years, scientists have discovered that the cell world is released into the blood plasma after cell death, obtaining useful cancer information. Since methylation changes in cancer cells are very significant and the death rate of cancer cells is high, the methylation of each tissue is different from the other. Furthermore, they were diagnosing the type of cancer. On the other hand, due to the different patterns in methylated DNA with normal DNA and the use of bisulfite treatment technique to detect the degree of...

Development of Endoscopic Capsule for Tissue Biopsy: Design, Fabrication of A Laboratory Prototype and Localization

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zarifi Khameneh, Mohammad Reza (Author) ; Nejat Pishkenari , Hossein (Supervisor) ; Alasty, Aria (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, to enhance the performance of endoscopic capsules and integrate biopsy functionality, two main developments are presented. First, the design, prototyping, and testing of an innovative magnetic spring-based biopsy mechanism; and second, the development of a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based magnetic localization algorithm. Several conceptual designs were analyzed, and a mechanism comprising a fixed axially magnetized permanent magnet, a radially magnetized movable magnet, and a conventional biopsy forceps was selected. The design allows the capsule to perform both rolling motion and mechanism activation under a uniform magnetic field, eliminating the need for complex...
