Synthesis of Amine-Functionalized BN Quantum Dots for Active Targeting of SKOV3 Cells and Cell Imaging in a Microfluidics System

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bagheri, Omid (Author) ; Simchi, Abdolreza (Supervisor) ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The biocompatibility and chemical stability of boron nitride nanomaterials surpass those of carbon nanomaterials. In addition, boron nitride nanomaterials share the same structure as graphene materials, making them a suitable replacement for graphene in biological applications. In this study, SKOV3 cancer cells were actively targeted using amine-functionalized boron nitride quantum dots that were covalently modified by CD133 antibody. Under the condition that they are not conjugated with antibody, these nanoparticles were also incorporated into the microfluidic device designed to image MCF7 cancer cells. These nanoparticles were produced via solvothermal synthesis in an organic solvent...

Synthesis and Characterization of Boron Nitride Composites Based on Bio- and Synthetic Polymers and Investigation of Their Applications

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Habibi, Navid (Author) ; Pourjavadi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, the crude oil spills in the oceans and the excessive emission of electromagnetic waves in the living environment have threatened human health. Therefore, different methods have been considered to deal with each of these two threats. Recently, the use of polymeric boron nitride composites in the production of crude oil absorbents and electromagnetic wave shieldings has received attention due to its thermal conductivity, thermal and chemical stability. In the first step of this research, superhydrophobic composites of polyurethane sponges were prepared by boron nitride and electrically conductive nanomaterials that had photothermal and electrothermal properties. The results...
