Green Flexible Supply Chain Network Design; A Genetic Algorithm Approach
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Akbari Jokar, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
This study aimed to develop a green network design for a multi-echelon multi-product supply chain with a focus on bottleneck points as the means of enhancing unutilized capacities to maintain the optimal levels of flexibility. Two different models were developed to compare different approaches of flexible capacity planning by minimizing the total cost of facility establishment as well as their utilization and transportation cost. The proposed mixed-integer linear programming model was characterized by its novelty in taking bottleneck points into account to build a platform for flexible capacity planning required for responding to uncertainties such as fluctuations in demand and new product...
Simulation of Clogging in Porous Media by Pore Network Model
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Jamshidi, Saeed (Supervisor) ; Raoof, Amir (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
Clogging of the pores of the porous medium occurs in different processes such as geothermal injection pumps, hydrocarbon wells, and underground water extraction wells. We need a model that can simulate these blockages in order to predict how fundamental variables of the porous medium change under different flow regimes and different particle sizes in the fluid (for example, the relationship between porosity and permeability changes). The aim is to simulate clogging in a porous medium using a pore network model. Simulations should model pore clogging and show how the permeability of the sample changes due to pore clogging. In the pore network, there are often thousands (or millions) of pores...
Implementing a Software-Defined-Network Firewall on FPGA
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
Software defined networks are developed to provide programmability and a centralized view in networks by decoupling control plane from data plane. Software defined networks are now well received, and these networks are evolving every day. This is while more attention has been paid to widen the application of these networks and eliminating the shortcomings in their performance. On the other hand, in very large networks, the issue of efficiency and processing speed is of great importance. However, performance in these networks is not satisfactory, especially in single controller based SDN due to the complex processing of packets in a unique controller. Security needs are also of great...
Improving Robustness of Speaker Verification Systems Against Non-Identity Information
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Sameti, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
Speaker verification as a kind of biometric methods aims to verify the identity of a person from characteristics of their voice. This method faces many challenges such as voice imitation (spoofing), use of recorded voice, high sensitivity to convolutive distortions resulted by channel, and a large performance degradation for short-duration utterances. The aim of this thesis is to propose different methods for reducing the effects of non-identity information, especially the channel, and also solving the problem of new methods for text-dependent speaker verification with very short utterances. i-vector has been the best speaker modeling method in recent years but it doesn’t result in good...
