Development of Optimum Model Transient Energy Flow in the Residential Building Unit
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Sattari, Sorena (Supervisor)
Abstract
Analysis of energy flow which effectively leads to reducing energy consumption in buildings is of major importance. The following research is the development of methodology and simulation of energy in the residential buildings and realization of the methods by means of FORTRAN software. In the process of modeling energy flow, in order to evaluate thermal comfort and calculate building’s thermal load, the dynamic and integrated interaction of these parameters must be appraised. The continuous and integrated study required that Mass and energy flow, for various component of building, and their interaction be examined. These factors could not be assessed using simple and reliable methods. In...
Characterizing the Optimum Energy Flow Model in a Building Using Internal Energy
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Sattari, Sourena (Supervisor)
Abstract
This study is a modeling for “building’s energy consumption” as well as selecting an optimum composition of technologies to meet a building’s needs, with an approach of reducing energy and facility costs . In modeling the energy stream to evaluate heating comfort and to calculate building’s heating load, the interaction between these two phenomena is assumed to be en block. The unique and en block study requires surveying mass and energy streams from all particles of a building, which are not traceable in simple static methods. This study assumes a building with following requests: heating load, cooling load, air conditioning and heat water. An optimum selection of facilities and...
Development of Energy Flow Optimum Model in the HVAC System of Residential Building Unit
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Sattari, Sorena (Supervisor)
Abstract
In the building, can be used variaty of Heating, Ventilating and Air conditioning systems. Among the items that affect to select the hvac system can be pointed to building thermal demand and system energy consumpsion. simulation of this systems is one of the ways that can compare hvac systems in the building. according to Iran needs for preparation of software for optimization of energy carriers consumption in building proportional with existing matrials and equipment in the country, in this research has been tried methodology and modeling of hvac systems in the way developed that producted software is capable simply and practical for engineers be operational in a residential unit. In realy...
Investigation of Atrium Shape Influence on Natural Ventilation Performance & CFD Model
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Moosavi, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
In modern era, standpoints about atrium design have been revolutionized. In modern architecture, atrium not only designed for illuminating purposes but also designed by natural ventilation and passive cooling policies. Numerous parameters are making role in thermal efficiency of Atrium. A couple of these parameters are Atrium shape and openings area. In high rise atria the lower level rooms enjoy the advantage of buoyancy-driven ventilation while the upper level rooms suffer from its lack or weak presence. One strategy to solve this problem is designing building with various opening area in different heights but manipulating the opening size is restricted by some facts. Excessive Opening’s...
Thermal Storage Modeling of One Building with and Without Phase Change Materials
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Farhadi, Fathollah (Supervisor)
Abstract
Phase change materials have been of great interest due to their ability to save and restore energy in low temperature ranges. PCM can save and release energy in a constant temperature which leads to save in energy. These materials have been widely used in solar cells, storage tanks, human body and buildings. Applications of PCMs have been discussed in the last chapter of this thesis. To study the effect of PCM, a room with bricks, chalk, insulator and also PCM is assumed. Abovementioned room in summer and winter of Tehran with south-north and west-east walls has been simulated in COMSOL. Effects of air’s convection in the room and brick’s holes have been investigated in simulation and...
Numerical Investigation of Various Parameters Influence in Atrium Efficiency Improvements for Building’s Natural Ventilation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Moosavi, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
In order to improve the efficiency of atriums, effective parameters in ventilation and acceleration of airflow are numerous. Nevertheless, parameters such as shape and height of atrium, geometry of the inlet and outlets, opening areas and the presence of heat sources in each store play a vital role. In structures higher than one floor, there is no significant airflow in the upper floors and the ventilation of atrium is unpleasant for residents. Air movement in the building is done by buoyancy-driven force and hot air upward movement due to pressure differences. This study attempts to improve the natural ventilation performance with changing mentioned parameters. So for this purpose, 3D...
