Performance Evaluation of Grid Scheduling Algorithms Based on Market Theory
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Movaghar Rahimabadi, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
Resource sharing is one of the most interesting features of grid computing. These resources can include CPU, main memory, secondry memory, network bandwith, or data. How to allocate these resources to the tasks remains a complex problem in this domain. The concentration of this thesis is on workflow scheduling. In this case, the works are composed of several tasks, in the way that some tasks have control or data dependency with others. In other words, we have to schedule a DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) representation of tasks on limited proceccing units. The principle of workflow scheduling optimization is to minimize the makespan, but in the economic scheduling, cost reduction beside...
Studying Performance of the Enhanced Momentum Strategies in Tehran Stock Exchange
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Bahramgiri, Mohsen (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this study, Tehran Stock Exchange market has been studied over a period of five years, and not only return of Simple Momentum Strategy but also returns of several Enhanced Momentum Strategies are calculated and compared with each other. The results obtained in this study are so different from the results obtained previously. For instance, unlike results of the previous researches, Simple Momentum Strategy had no significant return while the Contrarian Strategy yielded considerable return. Some elements in the Enhanced Momentum Strategies improved its performance while some others have worsened it. For example, low book to market value weakened the return of Momentum Strategy and...
Investigating the Role of Knowledge Management Processes in Reducing Waste
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Houshmand, Mahmoud (Supervisor)
Abstract
This research investigates the role and effects of knowledge management processes in reducing both cost and waste at the Dorsa Leather Goods Company. This methodology is based on both qualitative and quantitative research methods. The qualitative stage consists of analysis of past research and interviews with all levels of management. This stage leads to identifying knowledge management factors, effective in reducing cost and waste. Subsequently, we identified five main aspects encompassing all the effective aforementioned factors. These aspects are strategic, organizational structure, human resource, organizational culture, and technological infrastructure. The quantitative stage is...
Examining Factors Influencing Customer Satisfaction in Green Hotels (Including the Moderating Effects of Price, Length of Stay, and Type of Travel)
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Khalilinasr, Arash (Supervisor)
Abstract
Given the growing importance of sustainability in the tourism industry, this study aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing customer satisfaction in green hotels. The research examines online reviews of guests from 128 green hotels in the United States. Advanced topic modeling using the BERTopic algorithm and transfer learning methods were employed to extract and evaluate sentiments associated with the identified topics. Additionally, variables such as price, type of travel, and length of stay were considered as moderating factors. The results reveal that only a small proportion of customers mention green features of hotels, such as recycling, plastic reduction initiatives,...
