    Abstract
Disambiguating concepts in language is one of the most challenging tasks in the field of natural language processing and computational linguistics. A sort of these ambiguities can be found in metaphorical and metonymic concepts. In the present study, we try to introduce the structure of the detecting and disambiguating system of metaphor and metonymy. Detection step is based on semantic valency of the verbs occurring within the subject and object positions and the disambiguation step on the key topical concepts. The data of the detection step involves semantic valency of the seven metaphorically and metonymically frequent verbs. First of all, the data were collected by extracting the...

Classifying Brain Activities by Deep Methods Over Graphs

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sarafraz, Gita (Author) ; Rabiee, Hamid Reza (Supervisor) ; Manzuri, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, the spread of neurological disorders worldwide has been increasing, especially in developing countries. Due to the unknown function, complexity, and high importance of the brain, such disorders have been pervasive, severe, prolonged, and impose enormous costs on the individual, the family, and the community. Thus, increasing the knowledge about the brain and its areas in various activities is too vital and can facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of many different and unknown neuro- logical disorders. Different kinds of research have been done to automatically process and find the active and vital areas in various states and brain activities. The problem with most of these...

Wide-band Direction Finding Based on Time Modulated Array

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Javadi, Amir Mahdi (Author) ; Behnia, Fereidoon (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis studies the problem of finding direction of arrival reecieved signals. One of the methods of direction finding is Time Modulated Array (TMA). Recently, a lot of research has been carried on using TMA for direction finding. Indeed, ease of implementation and resistance to noise has made this method interesting for researchers. The major drawback of these methods is that the baseline of array antenna needs not to be bigger than half of the wavelength of the maximum frequency and if this criterion is not met, the results will be multiple ambiguous solutions. However, sometimes, it is needed to have a bigger baseline (for instance, the case in which diameter of the antennas is bigger...
