Experimental Investigation into the Effect of Nanoparticles on the Solidification Rate of Phase Change Material in Intermediate Boiling Fluid Method
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Shafii, Mohammad Behshad (Supervisor)
Abstract
The low melting and solidification rates of phase change materials, which traces back to their low thermal conductivity coefficient, has led the application of these materials to face limitations. In this study, it is attempted to enhance the energy storage process in phase change materials for a complete charge-discharge cycle using a novel method called SFD-IBF. Throughout this novel technique paraffin and acetone are used as phase change material and intermediate boiling fluid, respectively. In the solidification process, there is no direct contact between the cold source and the molten paraffin, while acetone, as an intermediate fluid, is being boiled via adsorbing paraffin’s heat and...

Abstract
This study consists of two parts. In the first part, the performance of the LISFLOOD-FP model, which is raster-based, and the HEC-RAS model, are compared and evaluated. This work studied different scenarios under various digital models in two study areas, the Kashkan study basin with mountainous topography and the basin in Nebraska, which has a plain surface. The flood events are among the most severe floods in both study areas that occurred in March and April 2019. This study showed that in mountain topography, the performance of both models is good even with the 30 m high digital models. Although two models perform well, in the Nebraska basin, the performance of the two models in the...
Building Capillar Microseparators to Separate the Organic and Aqeuous Phase
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammadi, Ali Asghar (Supervisor)
Abstract
During the past years, microtechnologies have been extensively used in Chemical reactions. In these systems, using an optimal system for separation, and purification of Chemical Products is of great importance. In this study, we have focused on the separation of organic-phase and aqueous-phase Products in 26 fabricated microsystems. The fabrication method of the glass microseparators consists of Lithography, Acidization, and Glass-to-Glass Thermal Connection. We have also studied key parameters of organic and aqueous phase separation in continuous capillary microseparators like the width of the capillary channel, length of the capillary channel, number of the capillary channels, and flow of...
