Energy Storage Systems Operation Strategy in Presence of Wind Farms Based on Consumption Pattern

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kadivar, Alireza (Author) ; Ehsan, Mehdi (Supervisor) ; Fotuhi Firuzabad, Mahmoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
World environmental concerns sharp increase in necessity of using energy in comparison with permanent progress in the field of renewal energy technologies causes modern forms of energy sources which can be used by public. This project studies the increasing influence of the wind power in power systems and also designing and exploiting techniques of local saving energy systems. For this purpose, models and possibilities in order to anticipate the operation of wind farm which is connected to grid by saving energy is described. In this project, the operation of compound system components which is totally a combination of three systems is being studied. The considered compound systems consist of...

Modeling Solar Hydrogen Fuel Cell System for Residential Application

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sayedin, Farid (Author) ; Roshandel, Ramin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The gradual exhaustion of oil and gas resources and the various problems involved in their pollution makes it necessary to promote a renewable energy system. One of the most interesting developments of standalone systems based on the utilization of hydrogen is solar hydrogen system. Central and southern Iran exhibit an excellent solar climate which makes them ideal places for solar hydrogen systems. The economy of Iran is based on oil and it has one of the largest reserves of oil and gas in the world but the reserves would not be enough to meet the domestic and export markets starting in three to four decades. Moreover, elimination of energy subsidies in Iran, will led to more tendencies to...

Control of a Distributed Generation System Comprising Wind Turbine, Photovoltaic Array, and Fuel Cell in Standalone
    Operation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shirazi, Moein (Author) ; Zolghadri, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Karimi, Houshang (Supervisor)
    Abstract
On account of the exhausting nature and increasing daily cost of the fossil fuels, it seems that replacing the fossil fuels by an alternative source of energy is inevitable. Moreover, in the remote areas that the electricity network is not accessible, the use of distributed sources (DSs) such as solar energy and wind energy is advantageous. Continuity of the supply and voltage control of the load in spite of the stochastic nature of the generated power of the renewable energy resources are the main concerns in the distributed generation (DG) systems. In this thesis, stand-alone operation of a DG unit comprising a solar unit and wind turbine as primary sources of energy is considered. A...

Optimal Sizing and Demand Management of Stand-Alone Solar System with Hydrogen Storage

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Haddadi, Morteza (Author) ; Roshandel, Ramin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This current reseach concentrates on designing and evaluation of stand-alone alternative energy system which consists of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell system (PEMFC), a photovoltaic (PV) panel, a proton exchange membrane electrolyser and a hydrogen storage tank.. To establish the minimum capacity of the system components, a system sizing model is developed in MATLAB Based on meteorological and the electrical yearly demand data which are extracted from DEDM model. The accuracy of the sub models is checked by comparing the experimental measurements of the system components obtained from other literatures with model outputs. The evaluation is based on demand profile, investment costs,...
