Developing a Mathematical Model for Optimum Drug (Vaccine)Distribution of Infectious Diseases in Epidemic Conditions: The COVID-19 Case Study
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Haji, Alireza (Supervisor) ; Kayvanfar, Vahid (Supervisor)
Abstract
This study aims to develop a mathematical model for the equitable distribution of the drug or vaccine needed in a critical situation like the COVID-19 epidemic. This study has taken a unique look at the human dimension of social issues such as the cost of deprivation and equality. It seeks to ensure a fair vaccine distribution among priority groups and affected areas. Thus, it has developed a mixed-integer programming model to minimize distribution costs in the cold chain to reduce the social costs of the crisis while reducing logistical costs such as transportation, scarcity, and maintenance costs. To do this, we considered a three-tier chain consisting of a supplier, distributor, and...
Shipping Finance: A Case Study of Purchasing Chemical Tankers for the Iranian Petrochemical Industry
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Talebian, Masoud (Supervisor) ; Khorasanchi, Mahdi (Supervisor)
Abstract
This research investigates the methods of financing ship purchases in Iran, with a specific focus on the financing of chemical tanker purchases for the Iranian petrochemical industry as a case study. Following a logical sequence, the study first examines the industry’s need and the necessity of purchasing chemical tankers, and then analyzes in detail the common methods, obstacles, and potential solutions for financing the development of Iran’s petrochemical shipping fleet. To achieve this, primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews with experts in the fields of petrochemicals, shipping, and finance, and subsequently analyzed using the thematic analysis method. The...
