Multiview Localization and Tracking of Soccer Players and Ball
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kasaei, Shohreh (Supervisor)
Abstract
By progress of computer vision, many systems are produced for soccer analysis. These systems have been used in many applications such as 2D and 3D reconstruction in arbitrary view. In this circumstance, we need to detect and track players, referee and ball in whole matches. In a single view system there are problems such as occlusion. By having more views of game, when two objects are occluded in one view, we can detect and track them in the others. Objective of this project is multi-view detection and multi-view tracking players and ball in soccer. In recorded videos from multiple views, we track path of players and the ball.

Iranian Professional Football League’s Scheduling
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kianfar, Ferydoon (Supervisor)
Abstract
Finding a proper and fair schedule for sport competitions has been an important issue, especially these days which professional sports has became a large scale business and profitability of sport competitions depends on the quality of the schedule.
Hence in the last three decades sport scheduling has been considered by computer science and operation research scientists.
Professional soccer league consists of many teams which compete in one round or double round robin tournament every year. In round robin tournaments each team has two matches, one at their own place and the other one at the competitors place. The main issues of the sport scheduling are the round and the host of...

Predicting Football Match Results Using Data Mining Techniques
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rafiee, Majid (Supervisor)
Abstract
Recently, data scientists have been paying much attention to sports. Many researches have been done in this field, using data mining and machine learning techniques. The following research aims to predict the results of football matches, which consists of two general approaches. For the first and second approaches, we used video game data and match statistics, respectively. In both approaches, it was tried to predict not only the final result (win, draw, or loss) but also the final goal difference. In the first approach, the home team victory was predicted by 73% accuracy, the draw by 75.4%, and the home team defeat by 73.7%. Nevertheless, in the second approach, the home team victory was...

Abstract
Nowadays, companies trade with each other to prosper, and the role of trading in the growth of businesses is undeniable. Many of them procure raw materials from their suppliers or sell their products to retailers. A contract is the first step to form such interaction. In a contract, each company has specific purposes which are ambiguous at the time of signing a contract. These objects and expectations are determined at the beginning of a contract, whereas both parties of a contract are uncertain about the future circumstances. In many cases, the future conditions cause one party of a contract breaches and terminates it. One of the most common reasons for breaching is the emergence of a new...
Predicting Football Player's Market Value and Determination Factors Affecting it Applying Machine Learning Methods
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rafiee, Majid (Supervisor)
Abstract
In addition to being a popular sport in the world, football is a big industry and clubs are considered as economic enterprises of this industry. One of the most important decisions that the managers of these clubs must make is the buying and selling of players during the transfer windows, so that one decision can bring a profit or a loss of several million euros for that club.So obtaining a correct estimation of the market value and price of football players is considered a crucial requirement for club managers. With the advancement of science and the evolution of machine learning algorithms, researchers tried to create models to predict the market value of players by using the...
Application of Machine Learning Algorithms in Analysis and Prediction of Football Goalkeepers Performance and their Valuation in the Transfer Market
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Radman, Maryam (Supervisor)
Abstract
Football transformation into an industry with extraordinary financial flow has made this popular sport an attractive field for sports analysts. The development of the computer science and data science has led to the emergence of a concept called football match analysis. The goalkeepers, as a unique member of football teams and regrading their unique features and characteristics, play a crucial role in the outcome of competitions and the success of the teams. Therefore, analysis of various aspects of their performance is one of the essential issues in the application of data science in football. In this research, three separate parts have been studied. In the first part, by using pre-match...
Predicting Football Match Results by Machine Learning Methods
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rafiee, Majid (Supervisor)
Abstract
Nowadays, electrical energy is one of the crucial requirements in human beings’ lives. Since the majority of the world’s energy is met by fossil fuel, the problems such as global warming, the reduction of fossil fuel resources, and unpredictable oscillation of the prices of such fuels have led to a serious crisis for the people of the world. Furthermore, due to the increasing energy demand, the economic development of most countries has a strong correlation with fossil fuel prices. The abovementioned problems have made a lot of countries take alternative policies in terms of generating energy, one of which is using renewable energy resources. This approach is reported to be clean and...
An Applications of Data Mining Techniques in Talent Identification of Football Players
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Akhavan Niaki, Taghi (Supervisor)
Abstract
Data mining in sports, particularly football, has grown significantly in recent years. Football clubs hire data scientists to conduct their transfers based on classification algorithms. These algorithms are employed so that club managers can narrow the numerous options available in the market to a limited number that fits the club's conditions. We understand that financial resources are limited; therefore, a club cannot acquire all the best players simultaneously. This creates a need for financial resource management and a thorough evaluation of a player's transfer. Using datasets from FBref and Transfermarkt, and with the help of machine learning methods, we have attempted to predict a...
