Query Correctness Assurance for Outsourced Databases

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Noferesti, Morteza (Author) ; Jalili, Rasoul (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the secure data outsourcing scenario, verification of the reply of an unreliable server includes assessing the authenticity, completeness and it’s integrity. In this thesis, an efficient method, with emphasis on freshness, has been introduced to evaluate the correctness of the replies from a server. It takes in hand different application needs, inherent differences in the data, and different update mechanisms. This method evaluates freshness by using timestamps alongside the data being out sourced. Due to the requirement of verifying not only the freshness of the response, but the correctness of the timestamps as well, two general methods for evaluating and verifying the responses were...

Analysis and Verification of Freshness in Security Protocols

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zareian Jahromi, Mohsen (Author) ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Security Protocols are a set of protocols for the exchange of messages that both side of communication use in order to create the secure communication channel. Usually in such a case, both sides agree on one encrypted key. The purpose of these protocols is to obtain some features such as Authentication, Secrecy, Integrity, Non Repudiation, privacy and freshness. Freshness is one of the most important and vital features in communication protocols which is gained with Challenge and Response, timestamp and sequence number methods. Can interpret freshness as new and up-to-date. From the perspective of a participating agent in execute of protocol, a phrase take into account as fresh when it...

A Novel Metric for Evaluation of Recommender Systems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Izadi, Maliheh (Author) ; Jalili, Mahdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The World Wide Web has been experiencing a massive growth regarding its content and users in recent years; therefore the need for effective means of accessing and processing available items has attracted a wide range of researchers and industries. Recommender systems has emerged to help both users to find what they may be interested in and the producers to sell their products more efficiently. As the number of these techniques grow, the need to evaluate them properly increases as well. However the proposed evaluation metrics are very diverse and often inconsistent with each other. Although there had been immense research in this field, there is no united and proper approach for evaluation of...
