Alavi, Babak
(Supervisor)
Abstract
Voluntary turnover has direct and indirect expenses for organizations and for this purpose; it has one of the richest literatures in academic works. Due to the especial role of knowledge workers in organizations, these expenses in knowledge-based organizations are more important and more costly than that of other organizations. One of the latest theories in the field of voluntarily turnover was introduced by Lee and Mitchell (1994) that was named “Unfolding Model of Turnover” to describe the process of decision of voluntary turnover. This theory is distinguished from its similar theories from two main aspects: First, they introduced new elements like shock. Second, they introduced...
Dynamics Modeling of new Scratch-drive Actuators with Bounce back Mechanism (BSDA)
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Vossughi, Gholamreza (Supervisor) ; Meghdari, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
In recent decades, micro-electromechanical systems – MEMS – havefound extensive applications in applied science and engineering. One of the most popular MEMS actuatorsis micro Scratch Drive Actuator (SDA), which can be used in various applications, for instance: precision positioning, micro-chip displacement and rotating micromotors. Their outstanding capabilities such as: high controllability, precise step displacement, vast transportation domain and large force relative to their small size, have made them popular among researchers. Recently, a new generation of SDA is introduced, known as Bounce-back Scratch Drive Actuator or BSDA, which is fundamentally different in motion generation from...
Experimental Studies and Finite Element Analysis of Polymer Nanocomposites Reinforced with Graphene Sheets under Impact Loading
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Naghdabadi, Reza (Supervisor) ; Sohrabpour, Saeed (Supervisor)
Abstract
In the experimental approach, graphene and Graphene Oxide (GO) were synthesized through a chemical method. In order to study the quality of GO, characterization tests were performed. Then, reinforced polymer with GO and graphene was made. Moreover, tension, compression and Split- Hopkinson pressure bar tests were performed on standard samples of reinforced polymer nanocomposite. The experimental data show that nanoparticles have a destructive effect in very low and high percentages for extension test as well as in high percentages for compression test. On the other hand, graphene is more effective than GO on improving material properties. Furthermore, comparison of compression results in...
An Investigation on Neck Injury Due to Head Impact in Road Accidents Considering Hyperviscoelastic Properties of Soft Tissues
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ahmadian, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
Abstract
Neck fracture caused by impacts on the head and neck during road accidents annually imposes a great cost to the people hospitals and the economy of country. Most of these accidents, regardless of cartilaginous injury causes sudden pressure to the spinal cord so it seems necessary to understand the biomechanical response of the neck and the mechanism of injury to reduce costs. Many computational models related to the neck injury have been developed recently. The aim of this project is to investigate the effect of frontal and rear impacts to the head and neck during road accidents. There are many researches have used elastic property for tissues but a little portion of research in this field...
Investigation of Dynamic Behavior of Concrete Slabs Reinforced with GFRP Bars and Prestressed Concrete Slabs under Impact Loading
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Prestressed and reinforced concrete slabs are common structural elements that could be exposed to impact loading. Although, use of reinforced concrete slabs and utilization of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) as alternative to traditional steel reinforcement slabs are growing, but the influence of various parameters on their response under impact loads is not properly evaluated. In addition, studies on steel reinforced concrete slabs have been found in literature, but investigation of prestressed slabs and GFRP reinforced concrete slabs under impact load is limited. This study investigated the effect of rebar’s material, amount and arrangement of reinforcements, concrete strength and slab...
Behavior of a Four Degree of Freedom Jeffcott Rotor with Clearance and Rubbing in Supports
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Dehghani Firouzabadi, Roholla (Supervisor)
Abstract
different phenomena occur between rotor and support rub impact causing system parts failure. Still Increasing the accuracy of manufacturing and decreasing the clearance of supports but the probability of rub impact between the rotor and support grows and this phenomenon is going to be more critical. This research would rub impact at two ends of four degrees of freedom Jeffcott rotor considering supports directional degree of freedom. Because the contact points are at two ends of the rotor, the rotational degree of freedom of the rotor is also considered. The system is modeled with 8-DOF and after numerical solving and comparison, the results with other papers, the system's behavior including...
Semi-Analytical Study of Separation and Re-contact of a Moving Oscillator on a Rectangular Plate under Accelerating and Decelerating Motion
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Foyouzat, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
This study investigates the dynamics of a two-mass oscillator travelling on a viscoelastic rectangular plate under both accelerating/decelerating and uniform motions, while accounting for surface roughness and various reattachment scenarios. Despite its practical significance, this topic has received limited attention in scholarly literature. The Current article studies how key parameters—including the oscillator’s initial velocity, acceleration, foundation/oscillator damping and stiffness, as well as impact type (elastic, plastic, and elastoplastic)—affect the system’s dynamic response. It also examines, via illustrative examples, the oscillator’s motion along paths parallel and diagonal to...
