Simulation of Hydrocarbon Waste-gas Combustion in Incinerator and Pollution Control

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Modarres, Mohammad Reza (Author) ; Darbandi, Masoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Emission control, especially Carbon Monoxides (CO) as one of the major by-products of combustion processes, is one of the most serious challenges in burning waste-gases with high amounts of humidity and Carbon Monoxide. We investigated an oil waste-gas incinerator serving to a bitumen production line located in Pasargad Oil Company, Shazand, Arak, Iran. The aforementioned incinerator was criticized seriously for its high CO emissions. We were requested to find a solution to reduce the undesirable CO emission from that. Following the environmental standards, there is an upper limit of 150 ppm for the CO produced by an industrial waste oil incinerator. To present an inclusive solution for such...

A Study to Important the Waste Gas and Air Mixing in an Incinerator Using CFD

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzadeh Sereshgi, Maryam (Author) ; Darbandi, Masoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Incineration of oil wastes is a very important subject in oil refinery Industries. Such wastes may include toxic ports such as CO or hydrocarbon compounds, in either liquid or gas forms. In this project, we simulate an oil refinery incinerator. The industry has decided to increase the waste capacity to 150% of its design conditions. This causes the appearance of CO and methane at the outlet of incinerator stack. We investigated the incinerator operation and-found that we might solve the pollution problem by re-design of air and waste inlets to the incinerator. In this regard, we first simulated the incinerator in its normal operation to validate our numerical modeling. Next, we assumed...

Analysis and Conceptual Design of Incinerator for Damaging Hydrazine Matters

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Golsefatan, Mohammad (Author) ; Darbandi, Masoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Hydrazine is considered as one of the most dangerouswaste materials from the environmental point of view. It can lead to both air and soil pollutions. Unfortunately,Hydrazine fuel is largly used in aerospace industry. Therefor, the aerospace industries are indirectly engaged with such pollutions. As a remedy incineration can be considered a very effective solution to destroy hydrazine fuel. In this thesis, we are faced with the conceptual design of an incinerator, which is going to be used for hydrazine incinerations. In this regard we are expected to consider all restrictions, which are required to be considered in a reed incinerator design and application. Therefore, we need to determine...

Modeling and Optimization of Municipal Solid Waste to Energy System Based on Incinerator

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Balforoosh, Sajjad (Author) ; Avami, Akram (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to the increase in population and the migration of people from rural to urban areas, the amount of municipal solid waste is increasing. Therefore, waste management is one of the most important social, economic, and even cultural issues in society now. In this research, one of the methods of waste management, i.e. energy production from waste based on municipal solid waste incinerators, will be investigated. Considering the sensitive environment of Mazandaran province, this province was chosen as the study area of the research. In the methodology of this research, after pre-processing the waste data of the case study, these data were determined as input conditions to the...
