The Making of Vacuum Induction Melting Furnace and the Survey of the Influences of Temperature and Material of Crucible on Created Type of Inclusion in Super Alloyed Based Nickel IN738LC
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Halali, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
The purpose of this project is to survey the created kind of inclusion in super alloyed based nickel. primarily, for this matter for the preparing of super alloyed based nickel, the vacuum induction melting furnace has been designed and built , then for surveying the kind of inclusion the effective parameters such as temperature , timing and material of crucible has been considered accordingly , the material of crucibles was considered based on mud-clay- graphitic- pure graphitic- aluminum- zirconium. From the obtained analysis samples of SEM has been distinguished which, with increasing of the temperature and the time ,the percentage of impurity will go up in super- alloyed and the...
Effect of Titanium on the Microstructure and Sour Environment Cracking Resistance of API 5L-X70 SAW Weld Metals
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Kokabi, Amir Hossein (Supervisor) ; Dolati, Abolghasem (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this research, the effect of addition of titanium to the weld metal of API 5L-X70 steel at two levels of manganese (1.4 and 2.0%) was studied; and the microstructure, mechanical properties, and hydrogen cracking resistance of the weld metals were investigated carefully. The submerged arc welding method was used for preparation of the welds and the metallographic test, hardness test, longitudinal tension test, Charpy V-notch impact test, HIC and SSC evaluation tests and thermal desorption spectroscopy test were done for each weld. The results showed that the addition of titanium to the weld metal increased formation of acicular ferrite; therefore, toughness of the welds was increased...
Production of Alloying Bonded Flux and Sdudy of Weld Metal Peroperties in Submerged Arc Welding
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kokabi, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
The effect of alloying elements such as Chrome, Molybdenum and Chrome-Molybdenum on microstructure and mechanical properties of submerged-arc weld of structural St37 and 4135 Chromoly Steel was investigated. Addition of alloying elements was done through flux and slag-weld metal reactions. Bonded flux was used to achieve this purpose. Mechanical properties were studied by means of Longitudinal Tensile, Hardness and Charpy V-notch tests. Microstructure was studied by means of Optical and Scanning Electron Microscope. The results show that chromium increase Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) and impairs Impact Toughness (IT), although it increases the percentage of acicular ferrite (AF). In the...
