Lanthanum Chromite Coating on Stainless Steel by sol–Gel Dip Coating Technique
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Faghihi Sani, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
Because of the high operating temperature, interconnect surface tends to be oxidized and Cr2O3 oxide layer will be created on the surface. This phenomenon is undesirable due to decreasing electrical conductivity, so a preservative coating is needed to improve the interconnect properties. In this paper, a dense perovskite thin film was successfully synthesized on a ferritic stainless steel (type 430) substrate by a sol-gel dip coating method. This coating improved chemical stability, oxidation behavior of the substrate and decreased cathode poisoning. The lanthanum chromite was coated on the substrate by sol-gel dip coating process. First, during a hydrolyze process, a stable sol was made up...
Optimized Fabrication of Spinel Nanao Powder Mn1.5Co1.5O4 Through Sol-Gel Method Applicable to Solid Oxid Fuel Cell
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Askari, Masoud (Supervisor)
Abstract
Nowadays, too much attention has been paid to Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC). One of the key components in SOFC is interconnect which plays an important role in SOFC performance. Interconnect can be either a metallic or ceramic layer that sits between each individual cell. The reduction in operating temperature of SOFC resulted in interests in using metallic interconnectors. However, the oxidation of these metallic materials is big challenge. Chromium (Cr), Nickel (Ni) and Iron (Fe) alloys have been employed to overcome this deficiency. However, these alloys bring another difficulty which is the presence of active elements such as Cr which reduces the performance of interconnects by forming...

Piece-wise Linear Approximation of Step Response for GSI Interconnects
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Sarvari, Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Since interconnects are playing a very important role in today’s IC technology, introducing new models and approximations is vital to IC designers. In this dissertation, maxwell equations are introduced as they are the main equations governing transmission lines. Different methods to model interconnects are also presented. Moreover, because of the importance of the step response of a system, available methods for finding the step response of interconnects are briefly discussed. Some approximations are also described, which result in faster but not very accurate responses. Delay and noise in integrated circuit connections have been the subject of several investigations for a long time. Since...

Abstract
Due to the growth of information volume and increment in the speed of processor units, it is critical to achieve higher speed in data transaction systems. This necessity could be recognized in all fields, from digital data transactions on a chip and among its building blocks to data transactions among electronic boards and computerized systems in huge control constructions.
Methods of data transmission have been improved both in terms of speed and simplicity for different applications in today’s enormous consumer electronics market. One possible option is to use conventional wires as physical channel of transmission system.

Optimal Multi-Level Interconnect Architecture for GSI Using Novel Solutions Replacing Copper
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Sarvari, Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Although a lot of research has been done on Carbon-based interconnect, there are many important questions unanswered. For example, there is no compact model for the resistance of bundle of CNTs at high frequencies, at which interconnects will be operating due to the scaling. Also there are many studies comparing CNT, GNR, and Cu wires but there is no study to show how much this will impact the design of a chip at today’s Giga Scale Integration. This comprehensive study should include chip performance, power dissipation and total number of metal levels. These two big questions are investigated in this dissertation. In the first part, high frequency behavior of CNT bundles is studied. A...
Electrophoretic Deposition of (Mn,Co)3O4 Spinel Coating for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Interconnects
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Faghihi Sani, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor) ; Simchi, Abdol Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is one of the promising candidates for clean energy production. Due to the high operating temperature of SOFC, a protective coating is commonly applied on the surface of interconnects to prevent oxidation. In this study, electrophoretic deposition was employed to prepare a manganese-cobalt spinel coating on the surface of ferritic stainless steel (AISISAE430) substrates. MnCo2O4 powder with an average particle size of 60 nm was utilized and the sintering behavior of the coatings at different temperatures was studied. Non-isothermal and isothermal sintering behavior of the powder compacts were examined by employing a sensitive dilatometer. Master sintering curve...
YSZ Coating on Ferritic Stainless Steel Interconnect through Sol-Gel Method and Studying its Reaction with Glass Sealant in SOFC
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Faghihi Sani, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor) ; Nemati, Ali (Supervisor)
Abstract
Solid oxide fuel cells are used to convert solid-state energy to direct electrical current by electrochemistry mixing a gas fuel and an oxidant in an oxide electrolyte. One of the most interesting aspects of this field for the researchers is the reaction between the metal interconnect and the glass sealant. In the current research, deposition of the YSZ coating onto the metal interconnect in order to impede the reaction with glass sealant and prohibition of its oxidation in oxidizing/reducing environment in high temperature, was mainly investigated. Effect of applying YSZ Thin layer in the intersection of Crofer steel and glass sealant on strength and chemical durability of these two...
