Investigation of Make to Order, Make to Stock and Vendor Managed Inventory Replenishment Strategies in Supply Chain Performance

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Moarefdoost, Mohammad Mohsen (Author) ; Hajji, Rasoul (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, numerous companies in various industries apply supply-chain management to improve their market competitiveness. Advances in information technology bring new approaches for managing supply chain activities. Consequently, emphasis on supply-chain coordination has increased in recent years. Vendor managed inventory (VMI) is an important coordination initiative. In VMI, the vendor assumes responsibility for managing inventories at retailers using advanced online messaging and data-retrieval systems. In this dissertation we investigate the effect of VMI on supply chain performance under make-to-order and make-to-stock environment. By using renewal reward theorem, we derive the...

Queueing with Inventory Models for Analysing Make-to-Order Systems

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Saffari, Mohammad (Author) ; Hajji, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, we consider various Make-to-Order systems as a version of integrated production-inventory systems. Most Make-to-order systems can be sufficiently modeled by a queueing system with inventory in which completing each service in the queueing system requires an on-hand inventory. Unlike most researches in this field, we present an analytical approach. In all systems we embed a stochastic process with joint state space that can entirely describe the state of system. Then steady state distributions are derived. Those distributions are applied to compute performance measures and long-run average cost function which can be used for optimization. In our Make-to-Order models, demands...

A Model for Hierarchical Production Planning in a Make-to-order System

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Alavi, Behrouz (Author) ; Kianfar, Farhad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A hierarchical production system in make-to-order environment is presented in this thesis. This production system is consisted of three different decision making levels. Maximum acceptance for production within customer specified time interval was done in the first stage, which is called order arriving stage, based on different client criteria, type of demanded product, and production system constraints. A new hierarchical decision making structure for accepting or rejecting arriving orders is proposed in this level. The output of this acceptance level is orders having maximum production system defined criteria, and minimum production cost along with order delivery time with minimum delay is...

Order Production Planning, and Meeting Due-Dates for MTO Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Asadi, Atefeh (Author) ; Houshmand, Mahmoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Time based competition is considered as an importance strategy in the contemporary manufacturing systems. Reconfigurable Manufacturing System (RMS) is a new paradigm that not only produces the products with high productivity but also allows for rapid response to market changes. Despite the large impact on company performance, the importance of due date setting and order planning processes and related decisions is underexposed in the literature of RMS. The most important contribution of this thesis is orders planning under setting due date in make-to-order RMS environment. This thesis seeks to determine the best selection of several orders, their sequencing and corresponding configurations...

An Integrated Model of Pricing and Production with Reference Price Effect and Quality Diversity

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zamani Kahnamouei, Hatef (Author) ; Modarres Yazdi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, we consider a made-to-order production system which receives orders for a single product. The demand is stochastic and price-dependent. We also consider a sale index that links the demand of each period to the demands as well as to the quality of the previous periods. The variety of quality levels and its effect on the amount of orders make this revenue management complicated. Furthermore, the price of each product is related to its quality and sales index. Furthermore, reference price causes the model to be significantly more complicated. We model the problem within the framework of dynamic programming approach to maximize the discounted profit of the firm during a...

A Mutual Predictive Scheduling Model for Customer Order Prioritizing & Manufacture Scheduling Inspired by Industry 4.0

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sharifisari, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Fatahi Valilai, Omid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study, with integrated approach to the POM problem, has developed a linear mutual MILP model with the hybrid MTS / MTO operational approach on the OAS problem in industry 4.0 environment for the Shahin Plastic Manufacturing Company. This enabled an integrated PM with the production in the scheduling model. The model objective function has minimized costs and maximized the company profits. It also maximized customer satisfaction by minimizing the tardiness and earliness time in producing orders. To implement this model in the factory decision-making system, measures and modifications have been made to the MIS structure of the corporate departments. Measures include the creation of cloud...
