Synthesis of Nano H-ZSM-5 for Methanol Conversion to Propylene
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Baghghalha, Morteza (Supervisor) ; Asadi, Mousa (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
Nano and microsize H-ZSM-5 were synthesized by hydrothermal crystallization method with same batch composition to investigate the effect of crystallite size of H-ZSM-5 in the methanol conversion to propylene (MTP) process. The average particle size of nano and microsize H-ZSM-5 were obtained in the range of 0.15- 0.2 and 1- 2 µm, respectively. Also, optimized catalyst of Petrochemical Research and Technology Company was synthesized using terapropylammonium bromide as template. Nowadays, terapropylammonium bromide (TPABr) is cheeper than terapropylammonium hydroxide (TPAOH); therefore we used it as tamplate. Activity tests were conducted at operating conditions of T= 460˚C, P=1 atm and WHSV...
Synthesis & Characterization of Nano Zeolite SAPO-34 Membranes on Alumina Supports and Evaluation of Their Performance for Gas and Vapor Separation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Soltanieh, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Kazemian, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
A Novel synthesis method to assemble of nano crystalline SAPO-34 molecular sieves crystalline is successfully developed at a supercritical condition. The environmental and operating conditions are investigated through a Taguchi L-9 orthogonal array and optimum synthesis conditions in order to reach highest crystallinity and smallest crystalline. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermal method of analysis (e.g. TG-DTA), and infra red spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques. In comparison to conventional hydrothermal methods, using a supercritical hydrothermal approach leads to the higher purity, reduced particle size, and change of...
Gas Separation by TEG and Zeolite Na-Y Nano Particles Liquid Membrane
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Bastani, Dariuosh (Supervisor) ; Kazemian, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this research, in order to investigate the effect of zeolites nanoparticles on the separation performance of a liquid membrane, a TEG/Nano Na-Y was developed. To do this, a high yield nano zeolite Na-Y was synthesized using mid-synthesis addition method . The synthesized samples were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, and SEM (EDX) instrumental techniques. A supported liquid membrane was prepared by impregnating a porous hydrophilic PVDF support with TEG and nano zeolite Na-Y. Permeances of single gas components of CO2, N2 and O2 were carried out at different pressures of 0.8, 1.8 and 3.7 bar. The single gases permeances were found to be: CO2 > N2 > O2. The results were shown that higher weight...
Preparation of TEG Supported Liquid Membrane with Nano Particles of LTA Type Zeolite and Investigation of The Membrane Performance in Gas Separation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Bastani, Daryush (Supervisor) ; Kazemian, Hossein (Supervisor)
Abstract
The purpose of this research project was to improve the performance of TEG liquid membrane in separation of gas mixtures by adding zeolite LTA nanoparticles. Therefore, the NaA zeolite particles with nano size were synthesized with hydrothermal method at optimized condition. The supported liquid membrane with hydrophilic PVDF membrane and triethylene Glycol (TEG) was prepared in two different conditions. In the first one, the pores of the supporting membrane were filled with triethylene Glycol, whereas in the second one the pores were filled with the mixture of triethylene Glycol along with the 5 wt% and 10 wt% zeolite nanoparticles. The performances of prepared membranes were investigated...
The Synthesis and Characterization of Nano Zeolitic Molecular Sieve for Separation of 133Xe from 85Kr
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Kazemeini, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Ahmadi, Javad (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this study the feasibility of xenon separation from xenon-krypton mixture was investigated by utilizing of the chromatographic column filled with nano and micron sized NaY zeolite. For this purpose the nano NaY with the yield of 100% related to Al2O3 and the average size of 98.6 nm was synthesized through the clear solution method with the mid-adding of NaOH. Furthermore, a novel method for granulation of nano zeolite was developed by utilizing sodium alginate as an external template. In this method the production of uniform spherical granules with the different sizes in the range of several milimiteres to 100 µm was easily performed. Moreover, the results showed that the adding of...
Nano-Zeolite Synthesis Adsorbents for Removal of Mercaptanes from the Butane and the Propane
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Soltanieh, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Shayegh, Flora (Supervisor) ; Soltanali, Saeed (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
In this study nano zeolite was hydrothermally synthesized in order to remove ethyl and methyl mercaptans from propane and butane stream. Fifteen experimental runs were conducted using D-Optimal method experimental design to synthesize NaY, NaX and NaA zeolites. The products were characterized by measuring the morphology, particle and crystal size, surface area, adsorption isotherm, pore size, and pore volume of the products by XRD, FE-SEM, TEM and BET analyses. The pore size for NaA type zeolites is about 4 Angstrom whereas the molecular size for ethyl mercaptan and methyl mercaptan is between 4 and 5 Angtrom, Therefore, NaA zeolite is inappropriate for removing ethyl and methyl mercaptans...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammadi, Ali Asghar (Supervisor) ; Soltanieh, Mohammad ($item.subfieldsMap.e)
Abstract
Gas pollutants are included volatile inorganic compositions and odorous materials, which are harmful and dangerous for environment and human health. There are several methods for removing gas pollutants such as physical, chemical and biological methods. In this work, we discuss about ethyl-mercaptan adsorption in LPG by ZSM-5 zeolite and in use of micro systems (micro channels). This work is also concerned about micro channel coating by ZSM-5 and NaY zeolites on glass and the method of coating with (3-Chloropropyl) trimethoxysilane linker. After selecting the appropriate method for zeolite coating, we proceed to micro channel coating. In this research, four different designs of micro channel...
