Introduction Methods for Out-of-Step Protection Of Synchronous Generator
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ranjbar, Ali Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Transient stability as one of the power-angle stability parts is a phenomena which is threatening the security of power systems. Following the occurrence of a major disturbance such as a short circuit, each of the generators will be in risk of transient instability due to distance from the fault location. If a generator fails to maintain its stability with the network, it become out-of-step. Out-of-step caused rounding waste of generator rotor and zero average output power. Out-of-step on the one hand lead to severe mechanical and thermal damage to the generator and the other hand disrupt load providing in the power system. So, the instability of the generator must be detected in the...
Out-of-Step Protection Enhancement of Synchronous Generators Employing the Speed Sensor Signal
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hajipour, Ehsan (Supervisor)
Abstract
The synchronous generator is one of the main components of the power system, which plays a very important role in its stability. The angular stability of the synchronous generator is related to the balance between the input mechanical power and the output active power. Faults in the power system, generator switching, load switching, transmission line switching, generator input mechanical power interruption and generator excitation circuit fault cause the generator rotor angle to swing. The stability or instability of the generator depends on the intensity of the disturbance. The out-of-step function is responsible for detecting the instability of the generator. Impedance-based methods are...
