Simulation and Evaluating of Effective Parameters in Pedestrian-Vehicle Accident
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Saadat Foumani, Mahmoud (Supervisor)
Abstract
Each year about 23 thousand people will be death in the road accidents in our country. According to the Legal Medicine Organization of Iran, about 24 percent of pedestrian fatalities in road accidents are the result of a collision with a car and because of that studying the different parameters that reduce pedestrian injury became an important issue to study. There are different techniques such as simulating crash tests on cadavers, experiments on pedestrian dummy and numerical simulation. The purpose of this project is simulating the car-pedestrian crash with numerical software called Madymo. Then optimize of the various parameters such as the height of the front bumper height, hood,...
Analysis of the Behavior of Pedestrians in a Marketplace: A Case Study of the Tehran Bazaar
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Vaziri, Manouchehr (Supervisor)
Abstract
Due to increasing air pollution and traffic jams, cities are trying to promote non-motorized modes of travel. Therefore, people are encouraged to take ad-vantages of walking to decrease usage of motor vehicles and to enhance their health. Knowledge about pedestrain behavior helps planning and provision of efficious facilities for walking. To address the issue, it was decided to examine pedestrains behavior in Tehran Bazaar. The vicinity of Tehran's old Bazaar is considered to be one of the populous, important commercial centers of Tehran and one of the most spacious footpaths. Behavior analysis is done in both macroscopic and microscopic levels. In the macroscopic analysis the re-lationship...
Identification and Modeling Of Factors Affecting The Waiting Time of Pedestrians to Cross at Signalized Intersections
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Nasiri, Habibollah (Supervisor)
Abstract
Studies show that Pedestrians are at fault in 59% of the vehicle-pedestrian accidents. The traffic crash statistics show the importance of understanding factors of pedestrian errors. If pedestrians terminate their waiting behavior during the red light period and cross the street, they would put themselves in danger. Pedestrians’ red-light violation is a type of highly dangerous behavior occurring at intersections. A total of 1130 pedestrians approaching the intersections during red light periods were observed from the videotapes data collected at 6 intersections in Tehran, Iran. Pedestrian crossing behaviors are classified into immediate crossing behavior and waiting behavior. A logit model...
