Synthesis and Characterization of a Novel Hydrogel Wound Dressing based on Silk Fibroin and Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Nemati, Ali (Supervisor) ; Shokrgozar, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor) ; Farokhi, Mehdi (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
Recently, some wound dressings have been designed that are expected to enhance the wound healing process and prevent blood bleeding and infection. Polymeric dressings have attracted attention due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, lack of toxicity, and non-allergenic nature. There is widespread interest in using silk fibroin (SF) for this purpose because of its unique properties. Given these points, we have designed an injectable antioxidant hydrogel wound dressing based on SF and Polydopamine(PDA) modified ZnO nanoparticles. First, ZnO nanoparticles were doped with Cu and then modified with PDA (ZnCuO@PDA). XRD, FTIR, SEM, and TEM characterizations were carried out to confirm the...
Synthesis and Photocatalytic Performance Study of Ag/Polydopamine Graphitic Carbon Nitride Nanocomposite
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Madaah Hosseini, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Developing an efficient visible-light-driven photocatalyst is believed to be a practical solution for clean energy and environmental remediation. The present study aimed to broaden current knowledge of the graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4)-based plasmonic photocatalysts by decorating polydopamine-grafted g-C3N4 (PDA/g-C3N4) with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The ternary nanocomposite was prepared using a facile synthesis method, while XPS and electron microscopy measurements confirmed the homogenous dispersion of AgNPs on PDA/g-C3N4. It was revealed that AgNPs successfully reduced the recombination rate of photoinduced electron-hole charge carriers. The calculated bandgap energy was...
Fabrication and Evaluation of Mechanical and Anti-corrosion Properties of Epoxy Resin/Carbon Nanofibers Containing Organic Corrosion Inhibitors
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ramazani Saadat Abadi, Ahmad (Supervisor) ; Mahdavian Ahadi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
To protect mild steel against corrosion, an intelligent self-healing epoxy (EP) coating including carbon nanofiber (CNF) modified with polydopamine (PDA)-La (III) complex was successfully fabricated. The high aspect ratio and unique thermal and electrical characteristics of CNF made it an ideal physical barrier against the penetration of corrosive ions. Due to the poor dispersion of CNF, its surface was modified using PDA. PDA, which contains functional groups such as catechol, amine, and imine, can mitigate corrosion reaction by generating the Fe-Catechol complex and also boost the coating's adherence to the metal surface, in addition to anchoring La3+ inorganic corrosion inhibitor....
