Investigating the Bonding of Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) to Wood at Different Temperatures

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Lotfalipour, Farzad (Author) ; Toufigh, Vahab (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Polymer reinforced fibers are used as a widely used composite material for various applications in the construction and civil engineering industry due to several advantages, such as high strength, low weight, and corrosion resistance. One of the important applications of these fibers is to strengthen wood, which can significantly improve its mechanical properties, including strength, hardness, and stability. However, the behavior of FRPs under different temperature conditions has not been fully investigated yet. This study has presented a research approach to evaluate the connection of various fibers reinforced with polymer (FRP) to wood under different temperature conditions. In this...

Repair and Connection of Steel Pipes under Internal Pressure using FRP

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Safarizadeh, Erfan (Author) ; Toufigh, Vahab (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The repair of pipes that deteriorate over time or due to various factors is a critical issue in engineering. Consequently, effective and novel repair methods, especially using FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Polymer) composites, have gained significant importance. In this research, the repair and connection of pipes using FRP are examined. In the pipe repair section, through hydrostatic testing, various factors such as the damaged area, the number of sharp corner points, the width of the sheets, the number of layers, and the pre- stress condition of the FRP are studied for their impact on the pipe's ultimate pressure tolerance. Also, in the pipe connection section, with hydrostatic tests, the ultimate...
