Mathematical Model for Longitudinal Motions of Hysucat Vessel with Respect to the Interaction Between Hydrofoil and Hull

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinzade, Saeed (Author) ; Seif, Mohammad Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Dynamics modeling of high speed crafts in waves is one of the major problems in design precess. Mathematical models compared with other methods have lower cost for studying behavior of ships in waves. On the other hand, experimental methods may also be suitable for various problems. Due to nonlinear behavior of high speed crafts, dynamics modeling of these vessels will be. Combination of experimental and mathematical models to predict the precise dynamics of high speed craft in wave is a suitable method. In this study, a nonlinear method is used for predicting the motions of vessels in waves. In this method, nonlinear time domain behavior of vessel is studied. At first a monohull vessel...

Investigation on Effects of Slamming on High Speed Craft Motions and the Crew

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Aref, Ali (Author) ; Seif, Mohammad Saeed (Supervisor) ; Rad, Manoochehr (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Regarding the increasing application of fast boats in the world, studying the motions and dynamic performances of these boats is consequently effective and vital.Vast activities take place in all over the world yearly. General performances hull tests occur in marine laboratories such as Wave maker and carriage. Model hull test is one of effective branches of the naval architecture engineering. This method is also based on dimensional analysis. In this thesis, after understanding the waves and the methodology, a computer program was developed to predict motions of a high speed craft in regular and irregular waves (Heave and Pitch). Slamming is one of the most important parameters on a high...

Design and Analysis of Tuned Mass Damper for Reduction of Boat Roll Motion

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Moravvej, Mahdi (Author) ; Khorasanchi, Mahdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The turbulent waves of the sea and their impact have always been one of the challenges of marine activities. Recently, with the world economic development and the boom of maritime tourism, providing comfort for the occupants of ships and boats has become one of the issues of engineering concern. Therefore, different methods are used to address this challenge. In this article, we first review these methods and then try to choose the optimal method and design a system for a relatively small boat that can compete with other methods. The method of choice is "damping mass", which has never been used to reduce the movement of boats. In this paper, by obtaining the equations governing the physics...

Hydrodynamic Modeling and Control of SWATH Vessel

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zare, Arman (Author) ; Sayyadi, Hassan (Supervisor) ; Karimi, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the key issues in the design of vessels is their proper stability and performance in waves. Therefore, the use of twin-hull vessel designs such as conventional catamaran and SWATH is suitable for improving stability and seakeeping quality. Although SWATH has a better seakeeping quality than a conventional catamaran, it has been observed that at high forward speeds, especially in head waves, the vertical motions of the vessel is greatly enhanced. Various methods such as correction of the hull form and the use of fin stabilizers can be used to modify SWATH vessel motion behavior. These control surfaces can respond appropriately to the dynamic forces from the waves, reducing the motions...

Evaluating of Geometric Factors Effects on Seakeeping Performance of HARTH Vessels

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadi, Mostafa (Author) ; Seif, Mohammad Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Performing research and development in the field of modern vessel types which serve several functions is considerably necessary because of their importance and rapid development. HARTH vessel is considered one of the important ships which has been recently attracted much attention from the world. In this respect, a full investigation of its performance could make a big contribution to its optimum design and appropriate exploitation.“HARTH” ship is the abbreviation for “High Aspect Ratio Twin Hull” is included in the catamaran vessel category with a high aspect ratio with respect to their underwater cross-section’s ratio of length to width.A host of crucial issues should be considered for...
