Investigation of Adsorption on Mixed Adsorbents
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Safe Kordi, Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
Abstract
Adsorption of acetone vapors on mixture of silica gel and activated carbon was studied. Adsorption is defined as the attraction adsorbate (liquid or gas) particles onto the surface of a solid (porous solid). Most of the experimental works are adsorption of a one or more component on an adsorbent. Presence of two or more adsorbents together may effect on adsorption rate, uptake and thermodynamic conditions. When we have limitation in using a kind of adsorbent, these results can be helpful. There are several motivating reasons for the study of adsorption on adsorbent mixtures. During the adsorbent manufacturing process, multiple batches may differ slightly from each other(and from the customer...
Investigation of Alcohols and Thiols Oxidation Via DABCO-Tribromide Catalyst Supported on Silica and Magnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Matloubi Moghaddam, Firouz (Supervisor)
Abstract
Oxidation reactions in organic chemistry were applied as one of the most important methods to change the functional groups to desired one. Oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes or oxidative coupling of thiols to disulfids is two well-known examples of these conversions. The mention reactions are using commonly because of availability and simple synthesis of the alcohols and thiols. Recently the application of immobilized reagents in solid surfaces is increased because of environmental advantages.
In this study, The 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2] octane (DABCO) tribromide was immobilized on two different supports by employing 3-chloropropyltrimethoxy silane: Silica Support (SS), and Nanoparticles...

Abstract
2-flavylium skeletons (2- Phenylbenzopyrylium salts), are often found as the basic structure in anthocyanins; the chromophores in natural pigments which are responsible for intense colors of fruits, leaves and flowers. They are present in plant organs, also to prevent them from environment predation and to protect the plant against ultraviolet irradiation especially in leaves. Aside from their contribution in plant parts, in industry, anthocyanines serve as food colorant, laser dyes and hair growing agents and have considerable biological and pharmaceutical activities like antioxidant, anti cancer, anti inflammatory, anti atherosclerosis, cardio protection and anti aging properties. almost...
Synthesis and Characterization of Mo(VI)–Schiff Base Complexes and Study its Catalytic Application in Homogenous and Hetrogenous Systems for Epoxidation of Olefins
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this project a novel molybdenum(VI) complex with tridentate Schiff base ligand which is soluble in water was synthesized and characterized. In the first step of complex synthesis, chloromethylation of salicylaldehyde was carried out and then, corresponding pyridine salt prepared in the second step. Ligand N-[(3-pyridinium chloride) salicylidene]-2-aminophenol was formed by reaction with aminophenol. In the presence of MoO2(acac)₂ the final product, cis-dioxo(N- (3-pyridinumchloride)salicylidene]-2-aminophenolato)ethanol olybdenum(VI) complex synthesized. The complex was characterized by CHN elemental analysis and spectroscopic methods UV, NMR and FT-IR.We used a high-yield (80-98%) and...
