Carbon Dioxide Injection for Enhanced Gas Recovery (EGR) and CO2 Sequestration in Natural Gas Reservoirs -Study and Optimization of Effective Parameters
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Jamshidi, Saeed (Supervisor) ; Soltanieh, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Salahshour, Karim ($item.subfieldsMap.e)
Abstract
Since the beginning of industrial age the concentration of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has increased significantly. This is due to using fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) exceedingly, leading to higher average temperature of earth and many environmental problems. The critical solution of controlling greenhouse gas emission is replacing other energy resources (for example; solar energy, wind energy and nuclear energy), while considering energy infrastructures shows this is a far solution. An early way for decreasing emission of greenhouse gases in atmosphere is injection of CO2 in geological formations. Moreover, in reservoir and environmental engineering, CO2 injection has been...
Simultaneous Carbon Dioxide Storage and Enhanced Gas Recovery in Gas Condensate Reservoirs
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Jamshidi, Saeid (Supervisor) ; Soltanieh, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
The consumption of fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) increased the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere that cause increase of earth atmosphere temperature and lots of environmental problems. Using appropriate alternative energy sources is one way to control this emission, while considering energy infrastructures shows this is a far solution. An early way for decreasing the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is injection of CO2 in geological formations. Since approximately 50 years ago some researches in this area have been developing. The most important limit of these projects is its costs so it is wise to combine them with gas injection projects in gas and oil...
Modeling and Optimization of a Solar System with Phase Chang Materials storage
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rowshandel, Ramin (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this project a system of solar air collector and a storage tank containing of phase change materials has been modeled, examined and optimized. The collector model has been developed in the EES engineering software and also solar thermal potential has been calculated via MATLAB software and then imported to EES and with past air and ambient charectristics, the effective thermal temperature of solar air collector`s exhaust will be defined for six mid days of six cold months. In the coldest day of those six days storage model witch has been developed in MATLAB will be consumed to withdraw the models results and then system parameters go on a sensitivity analysis and a novel system goes for...
Economic Study of the Construction Cost of a Small LNG Production Unit using Cost-Benefit Method in Iran
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Maleki, Abbas (Supervisor)
Abstract
The use of natural gas as a thermal fuel is only a part of the various efficiency cases of this precious material. The increasing need for gas to provide energy and fuel, as well as the currency obtained from its sale and export, and the existence of common natural gas resources with neighboring countries, doubles the need to pay attention to this category. The increasing expansion of the quantitative use and diversity of natural gas consumption as an abundant and cheap energy carrier, as well as the imbalance between the supply and demand of natural gas in cold seasons, require planning to create strategic reserves in the country. These reserves play an important strategic role in...
