Bioactive Nanocomposite Coatings Containing Anti-Bacterial Factors with Controlled Release on the Bone Implant

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Zarghami, Vahid (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Shokrgozar, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor) ; Pooshang Bagheri, Kamran (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Aseptic loosening and infection are two major problems of bone implants. Aseptic loosening occurs due to poor cell growth and poor adhesion to the implant surface over time. Bone infection at the implant site occurs mainly by the staphylococcus aureus bacteria. In some cases, infection occurs in the short term and in the early times after implantation, and in some cases, infection occurs in later times. The aim of this study is to synthesize and evaluate antibacterial coatings, while having cell growth-promoting components and cell differentiation to solve bone implant problems simultaneously. Also, the issue of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and their risks in bone implants is another...

Synthesis, Characterization, and Enhanced Optical/Electronic Properties of g-C3N4 Nanosheets for Water Remediation

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Yousefi, Mahdieh (Author) ; Moshfegh, Alireza (Supervisor) ; Asgari, Reza (Supervisor) ; Naseri, Naimeh (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
A global concern has arisen owing to rapid industrial development and population growth, resulting in energy scarcity and earth pollution. In this regard, developing green and sustainable methods for producing clean energy and solving environmental pollution problems have absorbed enormous attention. Among various auspicious strategies, semiconductor photocatalysis has been widely studied in recent years owing to its capabilities to obtain hydrogen as an energy carrier, to remove organic pollutants, and to reduce CO2 emission by converting solar energy into chemical energy. Recently, a metal-free semiconductor photocatalyst based on graphitic carbon nitride, g-C3N4, has received much...

Green Synthesis of Metal-Organic Framework Based Biopolymer for the Removal of Dye and Pharmaceutical Pollutants in Water

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Shahmansoori, Maryam (Author) ; Yaghmaee, Soheila (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, in order to overcome the limitations of the current wastewater treatment technologies, two types of green biocomposite, biocompatible, with high removal capacity for emerging pollutants from wastewater have been synthesized. The general steps of doing the work in this treatise for each category of biocomposite include green synthesis, processing and optimization of the synthesis method, structural characterization of the synthesized compounds, checking their performance to remove the model pollutant, investigating the effect of operational parameters on the removal efficiency, determining kinetics, isotherm and mechanism. And at the end was the assessment of biocomposite...
