thermo-Elasto-Plastic Analysis of Spherical and Cylindrical FG Reservoirs Subjected to Temperature Gradient and Internal Pressure Loading
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kazemi, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
Abstract
Design of thick-walled spherical and cylindrical vessels as fluids containers of high gradient thermal loading is a challenging issue. Using these tanks in high pressure and temperature gradient, particularly in chemical industries, needs to use new methods in design. Elasto-Plastic solution for thick-walled hollow spherical and cylindrical tanks made of FG materials subjected to internal pressure and temperature loading is presented. The power law modeling is used for through-the-thickness variation of mechanical properties. This method is using the new advanced materials with high pressure and thermal strength in fabricating these vessels. One of these materials is functionally graded (FG)...
Numerical Analysis on Line Heating for Thick Plates and Studying Heating Parameters
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Asempour, Ahmad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Using thick plates is common in different industries including ship and pressure vessel manufacturing. In this research a plate forming method called line heating is examined. This method requires basic equipment and is very economical.Heat transfer between gas torch and plate is studied in more detail. Impingement jet model is used to simulate the effect of torch on plate. Velocity and temperature fields of exiting air are calculated in Fluent, a commercial software. Then heat is transferred between hot air and plate, which is related to velocity field and both temperature distribution of air and plate. In this method torch moves along the plate. In order to simulate this movement, a moving...
Investigations of Cooling Process and Edge Effects in Sheet Metal Forming by using the Line Heating Technique
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Assempour, Ahmad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Sheet metals are widely used in different industries such as ship building and pressure vessels. In these industries, One important problem is Line Heating Forming. This method needs simple initial equipment and is economically advantageous. In this research heat transfer between gas torch and plate, cooling effects and edge effects are studied more precise. Impingement jet model is used to simulate effect of heat source (flame) and cooling air on plate. The temperature distribution in sheet metal due to the rates of cooling air and heated gas (flame) are calculated by using commercial engineering software, Fluent. Then, the computed temperature field by FLUENT is fed into the ANSYS FEM...
