Abstract
Pump and treat is one of the oldest and mostly used methods in remediation of groundwater. Although this method has been criticized recently, it is still widely be used. The systems typically use one or more extraction and injection wells to hydraulically control the contamination plume. The purpose of studying a pump and treat system is to determine the appropriate location and discharge for the wells in the way that the contamination could be pumped out. In this study after reviewing some existing solutions for delineation the capture zone of single well a method to delineate the capture zone for arbitrary located wells is presented. This method can delineate a three dimensional capture...
Separaition of Cu 2+ Ions from Aques Medium Using Silica Nano Pore Functionalized Amine Groups Confiend with Ionic Liquid
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammad , Mahmoudi Hashemi (Supervisor) ; Mirzaee, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Purification of waste water containing metal ions, is one of major environmental problems which have threaten human’s life, other creatures and even agricultural products by means of polluting suberranean water. Copper ion is one of dangerous heavy metals that exists in potable water and agricultural uses, due to serious problems in health of humans and aquatic. In recent years, different methods for purification of waste water containing heavy metal ions have been published. Right now, thorough these methods such as: filtration, coagulation, precipitation and adsorption are being used, which have their own advantages and disadvantages. In this research, new method for purification of waste...
Nonlinear Adaptive Control of Treatment in a Basic Hepatitis B Virus Infection Model in the Presence of Uncertainties
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Zohour, Hassan (Supervisor)
Abstract
Hepatitis B is an infectious disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV) which affects the liver. Several dynamic models have been developed to mathematically describe the HBV infection and antiviral therapy. In this thesis, a nonlinear adaptive control strategy is developed for the treatment of the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection inside a body. The considered nonlinear HBV model has three state variables, the numbers of uninfected and infected cells and free viruses. The proposed control law is designed for the antiviral drug input such that the number of free viruses per unit volume of the blood and consequently the number of infected cells decrease to some desired values. The...
Treatment of Oilfield Produced Water with Dissolved Air Precipitation/ Solvent Sublation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Shayegan, Jalaloddin (Supervisor)
Abstract
Because of production of large volumes of Produces Water during oil exploration, it is necessary to purify this water for reuse or discharging to environment. Thus, finding a suitable method for removing contaminations seems necessary. In the present study, removal of soluble and dispersed organic contaminants from produced water by Dissolved Air Precipitation/ Solvent Sublation has been studied. Combination of floatation by dissolved air and extraction with solvent has been used for removal of organic compounds in order to study simultaneous effect of both methods on removal efficiency. Samples used in the experiments were tested in two groups: the first group was synthesized samples of...
Investigation of Inclusion Behavior in Molten Steel in Contact with Slag in the Presence of Electromagnetic Field
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Halali, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Much research has been done in the electromagnetic levitation process, but there is not any information about carrying out this process to refine steel continuously. In this study inclusion behavior of molten steel in contact with slag, in the presence of an electeomagnetic field, has been investigated. The steel sample, in an elliptical section, was levitated in an electromagnetic field, in a chamber containing slag consisting of CaF2-Al2O3-CaO, in order to achieve a continuous process, and changes in time, temperature and slag composition parameters in this process were studied. According to ASTM E45 standard, after performing metallographic process on melted samples, using light...
